I was just having a look at the RA65 Celica. What sort of engine does it run? Is it worth doing up? If not, will a conversion for a better Naturally Aspirated engine cost alot? I am not interested in turbo upgrades or turbo engine replacements due to insurance costs.

Any help would be great!

There will be very little difference in trying to insure a heavily modified atmo car vs. a turbo car. Believe me, I know Confused

As for the RA65, they have a 2.4 litre R engine I believe, which would make it a 22R. They have an F-series diff the same as the MkII Supra. This engine is never going to be a powerhouse, unless you convert to turbo, and then there are still better options.

Suggest you save your money for an engine conversion - by the time you have the money you will be able to afford the insurance Smile

Note that apart from the price of an intercooler, the costs between turbo and non turbo engine conversions are much the same (ie. lots).

Budget a minimum of $3k for a basic conversion, $5-6k for something basic and turbo, and probably about $10k to end up with something really good.

Fark me. Doesn't really sound like a cheap way of getting performance. Cheers 7M!

"Cheap" and "performance" should never be used in the same sentence.

SA63/RA65 arent a bad thing. But are a cnut for engine swaps. Nothing awesome bolts straight in.

If you went to the trouble, you could fit in something like a 1g-gte or a 3s-ge. Hell if ur keen enough, why not a 2jz.

You are better off getting a Supra just because of how much better the shit is on em. LSD, 5m-e Laughing , electric mirrors/windows/locks, etc.

Although... i'm swapping all the good bits onto my project sa63 to have a more celica supra.
