Help ppl that have done ae82 drum 2 discs Fri, 23 July 2004 04:10 Go to next message
has anyone on here actually done the conversion using ae82 twin cam discs, going from drum brakes at the rear to discs. i'm asking for ppl that have done the conversoin because i want to know how you went about fixing the problem with the rear brake bais and how u stoped the rear brakes from dragging on the discs. I thought i saw a post from Xfader on these forums saying that there was a valve that just had to be poped out and then you were set. I've also seen other ppl say that you have to swap over the master cylinder with a twin cam item. Other posts i have seen have suggested using a adjustable valve to set the bias

Basically im after the quickest/most reliable and reasonably cheap method so if there is just a valve i pop out of the master cylinder then great, just a lil bit more info about what exactly i need to remove would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Regards,

Calum

swap the master cylender its the only way to do it on an AE82!
i did it with mine. the bias is all internal there so theres nothing else that can be done. there is a valve that can be removed i was told by a brake shop but the bias is different so use the correct cylender.

DO NOT USE A DRUM MASTER FOR DISKS your brakes will not function correctly, so for your safetey and other road users use the correct parts

lol ok i get the idea Alainve, sorry was just looking for the easy way out Razz

Seeing as ae82 twin cam wrecks are rare as all hell down here in SA what other car can i get a master cylinder off that would work? i guess the ae92 sx would be ok? they are a little easier to find.
