Cheaper Expert Service Technician

Hi,
I have a Lexus es300 97 that needs a major combined 150k/160k km service (timing belt etc.= $4/5K+).
As the car is so similar to a camry, i called a toyota dealer/service centre and they told me they arent allowed to service Lexus !
So im either in a bad way finacially or maybe someones knows a great mechanic that knows toyota/lexus engines.
Im a Sydney local so thats my area.
I have about one week to find someone .

mate, 4-5k and ill do the service, wash your car, rotate the tyres, satisfy the missus and walk to dog.
yikes!
sorry, cant help you other than that, but am astounded at the cost of a service. half of us here could pull that engine down in our sleep...

r u serious....
$4-$5k ...they must have been rubbing their hands when they saw u coming...
any decent mechanic....especially a non dealer could do this job for $500

well thats what i thought ! fukcers!
Anyhow - so im after any good mechs thats will do it for the reasonable price - they have to do it well though - i dont want any bullshit work done .
Any great 'toyota trained' mechanics with a top high tech shop out there that i should give a go ?
I need to find them before next monday - otherwise it to Artarmon Lexus service centre she goes, and my hip-pocket will not be happy !

I know a top mechanic in Brookvale that has all kinds of cars in there. From Barinas to Porsche. He wouldn't rip you off and you can trust his work. PM me if you want his details. He's not a "buddy" as such...he's reputable (i.e. not just plugggin a mate)
