Would someone be able to supply me with a simple explaination as to what different diff ratios do?
The choices that I have are 3.9 and 4.1 - both LSD. The car is an MX83.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

3.9 will have more top speed but less acceleration, 4.1 will be the opposite.

4.1 will rev 5% more at any given speed

Also look at 3.5 load up the turbo's quicker
How much hwy driving do you do. 3.9 = less fuel at speeds

what would be the most suitable ratio for a N/A RWD 4AGE in a KE series corolla (most likely be runing a ta22 T series diff, if not then a hilux diff)
would it be different if it were a 20v?
thanks

i would say 4,1, as in the ta22 (correct me if im wrong)
4,3 is also an alternative, but personally i dont like going any higher than 4,1 if the car is a daily driver, too much gear shifting to pick up speed, and crusing on the highway in 110km/h is not so pleasant with ratios higher than 4,1.
with the 20v you maybe even wanna go down to 3,9 or something, since it has more power and it will be able to pick up more speed at the same rpms cuz of the extra kilowatts involved, but it might be real lazy under 4000 rpms.
but this is just my personal opinion
