well the 1jz fits in a cressida, and i know a guy who has put a 1uz into a cressida so i dont see too much problem. if you can fit a 1uz into a ta22 then id imagine ud be able to put it in the gz20

At a guess, the structure/crossmember of the Z20 is the same as the A70 Supras.
This means rear sump fitment.
Talk to HKSPete, he has one in his A70 Supra.
As with all UZ conversions, exhaust manifolds mods and custom mounts are a must.

I gathered the fact that the motor would phsyically fit into a GZ20 but i was wondering if the conversion would be as difficult as doing a 1JZ conversion which is not that difficult

Hey, if ya wanna do it, do it.
But replacing an inline 6 with an inline 6 will always be much easier than replacing it with a V8.
But putting Toyota into Toyota will always be simple, providing you have a mechanically inclined mind.
I think it would be the first UZZ20?

I reckon it would be simply becuase the motors are just soo damn expensive to get in a front cut.
But i can get one shiiped here from the states for $3000 AUD

$3000 for a 1jz cut? or 1uz?
Most 1uz cuts are around the 2500 mark.

You pay a good 3500+ for a Soarer cut, but under $3000 for a crown cut.
Just get a crown cut and source a rear sump elsewhere.
(Make sure you get the sump before you get the motor though)
And I'm pretty sure the Z20 would need a rear sump, but definately check that.
If you cant source a rear sump cheaply, then yes, maybe this cut for $3000AUD to your door is a good idea
I'm just not sure of the LHD/RHD differences.

does that mean I would require a custom sump to be made up???
I didnt actually know the crown came out with a 1UZ but thats an interesting peice of information there.
Also with the exhaust manifolds do I need to have custom ones made up or will the originals do and is the K-Frame similar enough to bolt the motor in??
My Diff is a Torsen LSD so i am not worried about the strength of that but i just hope i can get a wiring diagram for the 1GGTE to 1UZ

You would have to check to see if the Z20 Soarer crossmember is the same as an A70 Supra crossmember.
And then check with HKSPete if he did use a rear sump.
As for exhuast manifolds, they can just modify the ones that come with the motor (you will need the most restrictive type).
Do a search.
And there will be no diagrams for 1GGTE to 1UZFE.
You will have to source separate diagrams (do a search) and do it yourself, or pay someone to do it for you.

cant I get a decent set of stainless steel extractors, becuase i know genie make them for that motor and my engine bay is pretty big so they should fit.
Anyway if i do this conversion I am gonna pull the motor down and build it high compression so the standard exhaust manifolds will be as useless as tits on a Bull

10 bucks says they wont fit.
But you are welcome to try.
Its amazing just how small an engine bay is after you put a 1uz in there.

And how do you propose to make it higher compression?
Not just shaving the head a lot I hope?

I hope you have budgeted 10k for this?
Cams are about 2k
Pistons are about 2k
Sleeves are about 2k
Headwork easy 2k unless you do it yourself
Gaskets 500+

Haven't had her down the quarter yet as she is not running properly as yet.
Motor is 100% stock, but running a manual trans, with plans for custom extractors if the wallet can handle it.

Yeah i had a quote for custom extractors on a V8 once and they wanted like $1200 but aparently they are well worth it and its not even worth ding the exhaust unless you do the extractors

Thats for a normal V8 in a normal car.
You go get an estimate for 1UZ extractors, you'll be closer to $2000 as there is NO room down there!

Just for comparison
Exhaust shop quote on 3inch stainless steel tube $80/meter
tube supplyer quote on 3inch stainless steel tube $18/meter

Correct.
Just showing that extractors are out there and cheaper than the $1200 mentioned above. Custom work will always be dear though.

on a stock engine u will prog get about 15 kws increase with extractors and exhaust
if the engine bay is tight fit then u run crown headers
if u have room run soarer or lexus
i got quoted about 1200 for custom made headers
thats not to bad
basically what u way up is
15 kws for a 2000 dollar exhaust system this is custom extractors 2.5 or 3 inch system with new cats
in my hilux only crown headers fitted
and u need to be bloody good exhaust maker to make a set of extractors but i know a guy who has done them and is very good
