efi an carby tanks are identical
you need a different pump bracket (may have to make something up) and an efi pump from an ae82/ae92

you could by the EFI fuel gasket (the arm and the piping) that holds the fuel pump from toyota brand new for about $400.
Then go to repco and buy a ae92 pump for about 150. In the end, it's pretty much like a JDM tank. No messing about, no surges.
rock on.
But then again, the ae92 fuel pump may not be enough to feed a 4gte..

hmmmm
will the bracket from an ae82/92 fit in my tank with little modification and are there replacement pumps avaliable that will be enough to support the 4agte?
cuz if it costs $400 from toyota, im better off buying a jdm tank for the forum and then putting an a bigger pump.

will do.
im leaning towards this idea of using a JDM tank then dropping in a bigger pump. because modifications = $$$ so id rather spend my hard earned moeny on other stuff, like tyres

Are you 100% sure?
I was told the efi tank has baffles in it

useful thread AE86drift.
Question though - did you ever get to compare the brackets of the AE82 pump and your AE86 pump?
Reason i ask is im going to be doing some EFI fuel system for a sprintah on the weekend, and i've never taken these intank pumps out myself.
Ill head down to piccies on saturday morning and see what i see i spose. But if anyone knows how different they are i'd appreciate it.

the ae82 fuel gastket will fit the mouth of the ae86 tank.. Except, it sits the fuel pump a little higher. Just extend those metal arms a little longer, and it'll be ok

EFI tanks *are* different from carb car tanks....look at the internal baffling arrangements and most importantly, the venting systems in place and you will see why.

Thought so. The amount of misinformation on these forums should be cut down somehow. Nothing is more annoying than getting wrong information.
