icon4.gif  Jap Spec 86 headlights and grill Sun, 25 July 2004 10:32 Go to next message
i'm want to buy these jap spec AE86 headlights and levin grilbecause i damaged my original lights and grill. They are from option 1 garage and i am wondering wether they will fit straight onto the Aus spec one. i'm just going to get the head lights and not the indicators. is this a good idea?
Thanks Smile

Tail lights will bolt in with no probs.

Centrepiece and grill will fit in place but you'd have to use your imagination on securing it in place (ie. cable ties).

An air slot grill on the other hand will require a hacksaw and some mods to the radiator support ... Confused

Looks like itll fit. But I agree with the above post. Youll need some interesting securing of the grille.

u can use cable ties (blackcolour) to secure it...there's total 6 metal brackets for the aus grill..

just join those cable ties and zip it up..i zip my left and right brackets to the main radiator frame....too easy mate Smile

Those parking lights are the different style to the headlights. Ie. the headlights dont have the eye lids. they do have the brackets for a jap grille tho

I disagree with dodgy haro. I reckon you only need to modify the centre grill bracket. ie get it out of the way for the levin grille to fit. then its mater of clipping the grille into the black bracket which are attached the the headlights.

The aus spec grille uses different mounts to the jap levin air slot and flip grille. the jap grille are much thicker and need brackets which are further back than the aussie ones.

On second thoughts the headlights at option1garage might be jap levin lights, but missing the metal eye lids on he top and bottom.

it looks like from those jdm pics that they have thicker black edges around the indicators aswell. on your car, AE92, the eyelids make the headlights look thinner than the side indicators.

Evan, I just got my Levin grille today so I'll let you know how I go fitting it.

Note, not all Levin headlights had the "eyelid" trim.... The brackets you see are for the foglights that sit behind the grille on either end.

Buy that brille dude - It's a pretty decent price.

No, you don't need eylids, but they look heaps better.

Can't believe I just scratched my grille while opening the packaging Crying or Very Sad

Don't buy the headlights with the brackets, it's a waste of money. You can make up your own easy.

From my experiance the clear grill will clip in using one of the middle clips, but all the mounts on the corners need zip ties.

I'll be making some alloy brackets to hold mine back to rad support. This is only because one of my headlight sits lower due to a bit of a bingle, which makes the grill look like its on an angle when its secured just to the headlights Sad

Yep. I was cutting open the box when my workmate said "just slice along the tape..." I stupidly listened....

The grille needs a polish anyways so yeah, I was going to ask you about that stuff you have after looking at Sam's one on Friday night Garth. It's only deep enough for my fingernail to catch on it in one point so it should polish out.
