Is it just me or can you see through that timing belt cover?? Isnt that plastic like 5mm thick??

BTW, when you painted the rocker covers, did you just use the same paint as the car or is it like heat resistant? Cause I wanna paint mine gold when I get my car painted and I dont want the paint to peel off.

Thanks fellas, no matter how dissapointed I get with my car sometimes, hearing stuff like that makes it all worthwhile! Smile [cartman voice] I love you guys! [/cartman voice]

Twinky, yeah, you can see through the timing cover, a silly idea I had a while ago. You must have your monitor up too bright!
As for the rocker covers, it just so happens that Krylon Engine enamel 'chevrolet orange' is an almost perfect match for my paint, si I stocked up on a few cans of it, and painted most of my orange engine/bay parts in it. It's quite a good match.

Mat, you wouldn't believe how much fanta I've been drinking lately, whenever I go to buy a drink I just reach for the orange by instinct!
The ignitor is a bosch one I had to get for the microtech, and yeah, the indicators are VT. Gettong a bit common these days, I'm thinking about getting some echo ones.....

Well, here's a link to the photo's of the one I had made. It shoews you how to do it, but actually getting it done is a bit harder, unless you know someone with a milling machine and who can weld pretty well.

For the record, quality 2 pac paint will withstand temperatures such that would be found on a rocker cover.

So you can paint a lot of engine bits with 2 pac !!!

***feels a hijack occuring***

Actually no. I bought some carbies to get the bitch running again, from there i will inspect the damage to the "spare" motor and stick the smallport one back in. Then its EFI time, later.

Right, time for the net marshals to step in here & thwart this attempted hijack....

I'm trying to get it all finished by dyno day, and then a week and a half after that it will have been out of rego for 3 months, so there's another good deadline.
But things keep cropping up, now I'm coming to terms with spending 3Gs on an autronic setup. I'm getting as bad as rod, that'll make it 2 different turbos, 2 different intercoolers & 2 different ECUs before it's even on the road. Very Happy
The main things still needed are exhaust, intercooler piping, adaptors to bolt up to the compressors inlet & outlet, ECU & wiring, turbo water lines airfilter & intake setup, intercooler mounting, and then there's other non engine issues that need dealing with, so I've got plenty to keep myself busy.

Never mind, it should go a bit better than it used too. Wink

First time I've actually seen your homepage Joel, some good stuff. Can't see all the pics of your car though (broken links).

This thing sure has come a long way... I didn't know it was even in a crash. I gotta get out more often methinks, right after the RAV's back on it's feet.

I'll be seeing you at the Dyno Day, if not sooner. Very Happy

Hey Andrew, thanks mate, that website's a bit of a joke really, it could do with a bit of an update, to put it mildly! But at least I do have some documented evidence of my effort. Smile

People100, do you mean my old 4A-GE 186cc injectors, or the 4A-GZE 365cc injectors once I use the 13Bs? If you want the GE ones, they're yours for $50, if you want the GZE ones, sorry but I'll be holding on to 'em if I ever stop using them.

Thanks phil, it should give you a little competition at least. Wink

G'day josh, I reckon there's at least another 100mm above my intercooler, so I reckon it would fit. I know the '22 & '23 radiator supports are a bit different. Here's a pic.

http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=getfile&id=4670

It does sit very close to the radiator here, but I can afford to space mine back a little. As you can see, you couldn't fit any wider if you plan to use the bumper bracket holes to run the cooler pipes through, I'm gonna stick a 90 degree hose on each end & hope it's not all too tight when the bumper goes back on, which I suspect it might be.
It also fits (just) behind the grille & bumper panels without any cutting or trimming.

Yogi, how are you mate?!?
I've actually got a cruise down the gong way on the agenda, you might have to bring the reincarnation of the beast. Smile
The 20v oil pump went well, I took it to work & pulled it apart, cleaned it all up & had the housing sand blasted, so it came up schmicko. Thanks heaps for that man, I owe you one.

Thanks for the kind words! Cool

Yeah it's not far off now, it's currently at Roccos Performance having the intercooler fitted, cooler pipes, turbo intake, exhaust, wastegate actuator bracket, etc made up, and with any luck it'll be coming home on monday.
Then it just needs the computer, CDI & loom installed, new headlight loom, all the interior reinstalled (retrimmed seats, new carpet, maybe new seatbelts) and the dash put back together. Plus there's a myriad of little thinkgs still needed.

Anyone got an old FWD 4AGE dizzy cap they don't need? I just need an old one to cut up & fashion a lid for my modified dizzy cam angle sensor.
Paul, you replaced yours recently? Surely it's due for a new one? Wink

Dude,

The intercooler looks like it should be a great size, Tina's was just that inch or so too big so I had to trim alot of the front headlight and trim brackets

http://www.toymods.org.au/~rod/Celicas/Tina's%2028 /Intercooler%20fitted%20small.jpg

Was just thinking that the show n shine will be the first time I can remember both our cars being at the same place at the same time. Sure they will both be being pushed around lol but will be great to have em both out and about again.

Looks like you will beat me on road tho ya bastard, mine will be struggling for the January Dyno day. Sad

Josh,

The TA22 requires a much smaller cooler than you can fit in an xA23 or xA28. My core is 360mm x 360mm and 75mm thick, it only just clears some of the fittings and the tanks are angled just to clear a few areas. You could possibly go slightly bigger but at the expense of end tank design.
