vacume lines diagram NEEDED 18rgeu Mon, 26 July 2004 07:46 Go to next message
I need to get my hands on a diagram showing the vacume lines locations. Eg. My 18rgeu dizzy has 2 vacuum line locations, 1 being advance the other (is it retard ?) where do I connect this line to. Also I have a charcoal cannister to connect, I'm contemplating removing this , is there any adjustments I need to make anywhere.

Standard 18geu dizzies usually have 1 vacuum line i think. Id say that someone has done a 22re changeover on your dizzy and when u do that you need the 22re vacuum advance. Id suggest either bridge it into the other vacuum line from the advance or just leave it disconnected.

I just talked to my mechanic about vacuum advance today. In my case I am using the original 18rgu electronic dizzy so it may/maynot apply to your case.

He said that vacuum adv is mainly for idle/off-idle and mainly used in autos.

Also the vacuum needs to get be attached to each cylinder not just one otherwise it will screw your timing as each individual cylinder fires, making the vacuum inconsistent(assuming you have the std four separate chamber manifold)

So as far as I understand just rely on you mechanical adv.

As far as the dizzy is concerned, I received a vacuum diag from toyota for an 18rgeu and it shows that the motor has a dizzy with 2 vacuume exits. Also my dizzy does say 18rgeu on the tag.The diag is a bit fuzzy from the fax but I think I can work it out. But it shows a lot of t sections but no conectins to the intake. any further advise on the cannister would be good.
