AE86 parts, insurance claim Mon, 26 July 2004 09:18 Go to next message
A truck backed into my AE86 Sprinter Sad
I got his details, the truck driver has insurance (I do not).
So hopefully I should be able to get them to pay.

Got a quote at a bodyworks. $378 for labour only, no parts.

I need:
right headlight
bonnet
front bumper

The Hobart Toyota dealership (where I work), say these parts are not avaliable Crying or Very Sad
So are they? What should i do. I need to provide quotes of cost and avalability so I can get the money off the insurance people. ?? Maybe the parts need to come from a wrecker, but I was hopeing I could sting the insurance company for new items.

Anyone else? Is there a place in Australia where I can buy a new carbon or fibreglass bonnet?

hey just quietly your toyota dealer is useless and problt too lazy to find these parts. Our toyota guy here in NZ can get most items new from japan. at a price of cource but still all available new pannels, lights even rwd 4age intake manifolds.

Well I just phoned Penrith Toyota, hopeing to get somewhere. (It says on their website they can get Japan import stuff and TRD). But the parts guy I got on the phone says nothing is avaliable (no numbers showing on his computer or something). I told him no, others say it is avaliable from Japan. But he had no clue. He even said I shouldn't have rung him as my car is Australian delivered, and I should have gone through my local dealer, Co-op Toyota.

So I am stuck again. Maybe I need a full model number for a JDM Levin. I gave the Penrith man my model:
AE86R-ECMXCQ

Which Toyota Dealer is clued up on this stuff? I need parts, but first I need prices and to know its avaliable.

OK thanks, I will try Castle Hill tomorrow.

I had another go at work (Co-op Toyota). We looked up the parts. I saw all the pictures on the screan of bonnet, headlights etc.

RH headlight 811351-A320 $402
supersession to 811351-A321 (not so sure on this, there was a changeover date Mar 85, my car is Mar 85)
bonnet = 53301-12342
front bar = 52119-12091

So we wrote some of these numbers on a Parts Pricing Request (PPR) form and faxed it to TMCA Parts customer help desk, and hope for a reply in the next few days. But the guys here don't seam confident. How do mainland dealerships do this? Surely something quicker!!!
