NRMA Open Road letter

Here is a letter i found in the Open Road magazine issued by NRMA.
Price them off the road
Whatever happened to the government's policies
against macho, overweight, overpowered overconsumptive supercars?
In the 1970's, the high powered supercars of the day
Holden Monaro, Falcon GT and Valiant Charger - were forced off
the road by government pressure on the manufacturers.
This was because; firstly, they were unsafe in inexperienced
hands, and secondly, they were gas guzzlers.
Now we are being inundated with V8 cars and utes, twin-turbo's
and similar insanely quick cars.
At a time when we are supposed to be concerned about global
warming, depletion of oil reserves and safety on the roads,
I can't see the need for any of these vehicles.
Governments should once again seek to control the availability
of excessively powerful cars by fiscal means- high insurance,
high TPI, ect.
Personally i hate people with these stupid views, firstly you should be aloud to drive whatever car you want weather its a snail of a car or a rocket, sure for high powered cars there should be some sort of system where you can't drive one until you have sufficient experience but in no way should they ever be cast of the roads simply because they are a highly powerful car which someone obviously loves and wants to drive on and use the roads just like everyone else does.

I agree with you Martin... I think that moron was probably a spokesperson of Greenpeace ...
What is he on about anyway with the insurance stuff??? Insurance prices are already high for thos kind of cars...
I agree with him about that they are dangerous in the hands of inexperienced ppl... Kinda like those lebbos on that Today Tonight segment ...

You should also be allowed to express your opinion freely, and that's all this guy is doing.
More of us "macho, overweight, overpowered overconsumptive supercars" driving citizens should be exercising our freedom of speech in more public ways, like writing into open road magzine, and auto sections in newspapers.
Fortunately it's fairly easy to realise the person who wrote the letter knows jack all. His only argument is that "they were unsafe in inexperienced hands, and secondly, they were gas guzzlers" and that's reffering to cars from 20-30 years ago.
These days, performance cars are much safer, and fuel consumption that rivals regular cars. Unfortunately the average drivers skills havn't improved.....
I tell you what though, if you're worried about high powered dangerous gas guzzlers, turn on these fukn 4WDs!
Stupid bastards running over kids, tearing up our roads (they ain't gonna get better with constant massive heavy tractor tyres wrecking it) & guzzling more bloody fuel than an average track car. And these bloody performance 4WDs, dont even get me started! I would have thought Porsche would be able to resist sinking so low.

There was a shock today... The new Camry was released in our workshop, Chatswood Toyota, and the new camry does 10.5L/100km... That is shocking... I would've taken my camera if I knew... There is a Sprotivo model that has the body kit, rims, black badges, ABS and sadly still has the stocker V6 motor...
I'm pretty sure that the motor is still the same from the last Camry with a few new bits...

Why do people always blame the FAST car, and the YOUNG drivers.. Personally, I think the poor drivers, are the elderly, who always do 25kphunder the limit, and at the same time are always in the outside lane..It's then that drivers get annoyed and do stupid things to get round them.. They change lanes and cut you up because there parcel shelf is full of tissue boxes and fluffy pillows and they cant see..
And they always think they are right, because they have been driving for the last 60 years.. I had an elderly lady reverse into me in the carpark once.. She claimed she was in the right because
1. I should have moved so she could get out ..
2. Because she has a gold licence..
3. and she had been driving for the last 45 years..
Sadly she won.. I had to pay $700 for the repairs on her car.. while mine was still f^%$#ed..
No fair..

That prick that wrote that letter was probably one of these dumb shit people that jumped head first into a shallow creek as kid! He ended up with a broken back and stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life! People like that, that take their problems out on other people really piss me off!
The f#*$en V8's they are building these days use less than half the fuel that those old cars from the 1970's I mean f#*$ wheres this guy been??? And the safety features in the newer cars are second to none compared to back in the black and white days!
Fair enough that the driving styles haven't really changed and most drivers have no real idea how to control a car in nut shattering instance, but that gives no f#*$ reason for that scumbag to pick up a pen and start preaching to damm world how these so called super cars shouldn't be on the road!!!
People like that really f#*$in shit me.....

do NOT VEN GET ME STARTED on the car/drivers on the road today... i do a lot of driving around (over 5000k's in last 2 months!! thats pretty normal) and i see some goddamn dumb sh!t out there.
I am only a young bloke, i dont claim to be the worlds best driver, but i am aware of my surroundings and i give room to people to look as though they arent aware of me or anyone else around them. I find these days you have to be wary of other around you more than you have to be of yourself.
anyway.... theres too much to say on this topic
