Some new mag possibilities for my MA61

After chasing around for another set of mags as a spare/track set for the MA61, I almost gave up, and couldn't be bothered. Then by chance, I find out that CSA have a special on their Gladiator mags for the 17x8", and they have them available in pre-AU ford pattern and offset.
They are 17x8", 5 x114.3 and +6 offset. Price - $199 ea. I hammered to the local place and 'borrowed' one to try.
Boy are they close to the edge (especially on the front), they don't have much dish (yeah, I know, but it is almost impossible to find mags with the right offset and have caliper clearance as well).
Here are some pics. Tyres will be 235/45's.
Any thoughts ? I'll probably keep the Simmons for track work.

The wheels look nice. CSA also make it in 17x7 if I'm not mistaken. You could always stagger the sizes front and rear if they come too close to the flare edge.
Did you mount the wheel without your adapter plates? Did you try getting a set of Starion rims?

Hi Raj,
No, they don't make a 17x7. Yes it is with the adaptor plates in the rear.
The Starion rims that you got in the US (Conquest rims) are non-existant here.
Even the ROH Snyper rioms bought on the CS.com group buy are not available here anymore.
ANyway, I bought a set this morning anyway !!!!

I still think they look nice. More lip would be nice, but hard to get that these days. Please post more pics at different angles once you get the car rolling.
Too bad the Starion wheels aren't available in Australia. Not available here in Canada either.

I think he means that the 17x7" doesn't come in the right offset. Not all the rims some in the early Falcon offset.

I almost grabbed the last set in OZ of those snyper wheels, but they went
so if anyone else sees some good 16 or 17 x 8 and x9 wheels around, please tell me? (if I had $4k+ to spare, volk racing make a great ultra light set)

Expensive yes, but heavy? How heavy are we talking? Can't be too heavy, our old 15x7" Simmons B45's were light as.

How about i spend the price difference on my engine instead.
You don't think that would offset performance just a tad?

Thanks all for the comments guys, both positive & negayive. In the end it is personal choice, and since they fit I've bought them. The other major bonus (and ofetn a problem) is the centrebore is such that I can get both msets of mags to work.
Ed_ma61 - The discs are still being used for a packaging trial, but I'll contact the guy again. How much are they worth
rsdeo - JCMF is right, the 17x7 is not in the Ford stud pattern and offset.
EMP-2TG - I bought 'em
V8-MA61 - I'll post a pic when I get them. The joint is organising some shitter tyres to help with seting up.
draven - should have grabbed the Simmons that Gelnn did
BlackSupra - OM16's suit the car. But at $540+ each for mew ones, I took the CSA's
Evil Foetus - your wish is my command

Cheers.
One thing though is that it makes the brakes look small. I'd hate to see what rims like the Gladiators would make the std brakes look like !!!!!!

Pfffft
$620 a rim for Simmons 17x8, and $600 a rim for 17x7.
Regardless of offset and design.
That is what I plan to do when I have teh cash

You should be able to get them better than that price. I was quoted $545 + GST from the ripoff distributor.
I agree, the Simmons are very nice, but I don't have the $2k plus for the rims AND $1k for decent tyres as well.

You sure that wasnt 16's?
They are a lot cheaper.
But don't also forget that we pay extra freight over here.
I plan to get another quote one day, this was just one place that I rang up.
