The Klez virus sends emails using the names of people that are found in the addressbook of infected machines.
So the virus didn't come from Vicki. Came from a machine that has her email address in the addressbook.
Klez is an incredibly annoying virus, I get those emails all the time.

it also affects programs, and cased my computer to do memory dumps but from what i understand there are many versions of this virus, i have a cd with the virus on it and if i put the cd in my computer then take it out and run that program it detects it in many programs on my computer so it does spread even gets into a few jpg files

that klez virus can get through them sometimes did with mine, and a virus scanner couldn't remove the virus either thats why i had to download the special program to get rid of it. as soon as the file is even looked at by the computer it attaches itself to another file/program

A good virus scanner will find that viruse every time before its has a chance to do any damage! At my work I have a Linux box setup as a mail server running Sophos virus scanner and it picked up on that Klez thing every time! At one stage I can remember we were getting over 100 infected emails a day!

Thats bullshit.. Virus scanners dont allways pickup on klez.. We use Norton's which updates on 1000 machines everyday at 12am.. It can still get through,.. Not to mention the newbie users opening the files from a disk or something.. once its on your network it spreads like a cheep pro in cabbra! heehee. (no offence to cabbra nark!)

I use VET, we use VET Antivirus to clean infected systems, INCLUDING ones with the latest norton definitions...
Plus, if we get a virus unknown to VET etc, we have good response times from the VET crew, usually <48hrs.
