my friend has a '90 cs limited corolla hatch, the engine has a blown head gasket at the moment and he's contemplating putting a 4age in there, i'll try and remember everything that he wanted me to ask but ill probably forget some stuff so feel free to bring up anything that you think would be a problem
would a 4age bolt straight into the bay, or would it need custom/different mounts
there are a few 4age types around, which one would be the best
where would be a good place to get the work done in western sydney, and how much would he expect to pay
what about the electrics, would this be fine, also would the gearbox hold up with the extra power?
he was also considering getting a 4agze, and taking the charger off so that he wouldnt get hassled by insurance (he would put it on later when he could afford it) but i said to him that it would have less power because it has lower compression to allow for the forced induction, (that is right isnt it?)
would his exhaust bolt up to the 4age block (i know, he would need a bigger one to get the most of the engine anyways)
i think thats it, thanks guys

It will bolt in.
100kw smallport 4age, for the cheapest conversion. The 20v's will make it hard for him to get insurance.
Don't know.
You'll need the efi gear since the car was originally carby. That's the efi tank, the ecu, loom, etc. Plus some other stuff I've probably forgotten.
The c50 gearbox will hold up, the ratios will be different to the c52 usually fitted.
Don't bother, as you'll want to get a halfcut anyway if he plans to run the charger later on. Halfcut will set you back around $2200, plus cost of installing it, and in the end you'll still have a slow car.
Don't know.
You may also need to upgrade the brakes, eg larger discs on the front plus discs on the back.
Weigh up the costs between replacing the head gasket, and doing the conversion. You may find that it would be better if you just fixed the car and sold it, then bought an sx.

Pretty mcuh what was just said it right.
Brake upgrades are easy, there are heaps of people selling SX front brakes, and bigger import brakes.
Dont bother doing a GZE unless you are going to keep it supercharged, otherwise you are wasting time and money.
A 20V front cut will cost around $2000, and will come with almost everything you need MINUS the EFI fuel tank and lines.
I have sent you a PM with more details.
