my smallport 4age conversion - with no pics!

hey all, just finished the easy part of my 4age swap, that is pulling the 4ac out and putting the 4age in.
i must say, it was very easy and straightforward, couldnt have asked for it to be much easier, unless toyota saw fit to never put the 4ac in it in the first place.
i have a few queries about the heater hoses, but they look fairly straight forward, and i have the_witzl's article on how to do it, so shouldnt be any problem, i wanted to replace all the hoses on the engine before it went in, but there is a lot more room between the 4age head and the firewall than there was with the 4ac.
ill have to post up some pics of the 4ac manifolds, talk about embarrasing!
any pointers on where i will come to grief? i think it is just a matter of wiring now, not really much to it but do it one wire at a time (i hope)
i will be posting pics of whatever bit of the 4ac was making the horrendous clunking noise too, after i pull it down into wheelie sized bits.

plan out your wiring to do everything at once. You dont want to be adding one wire here and there AFTER you have finished looming everything up now do you?
Heater hoses are easy. I just last weekend went and replaced all of them from the heat exchanger to the heater valve to the back of the head to the thermostat housing... just cos they were all old and leaky.
I just bought some 15mm heater hose, about 3 metres of it. Only just did the trick
There was NO WAY i was paying $50 per hose for the moulded crap from toyota.
Otherwise, you have everything sorted if you follow the picture guide i made. Just be sure to keep the thermostat housing LOWER than the water pump rear outlet to avoid air bubles (they insulate heat transfer)

thanks for the tip, what did you do for the bends in the pipes?
might go wank factor and buy silicon hosing
will take note of the thermostat location, i was going to use the 4ac pump, but couldnt be stuffed, and i dont really see how it would be any better anyway.
what i meant with the wiring ws that if i only concerned myself with one wire at a time, it would be easy, just trying not to get daunted for no reason, after i have run everything i will sleeve it all tape it up.
i was happy to see where the rear heater hose attatched to the engine, loads of room to fit your hand and a screwdriver there.

its all a piece of piss really mate - pretty much everything matches the 4ac.
As for the bends, the hose flexes enough to make bends of its own, just dont bend it too much or it kinks.
Wiring is sinch. Dont forget to remove your external voltage regulator and rewire your internally regulated 4age alternator into the 6 pin plug the external reg left behind

did you move the altenator to the other side?
what wire did you use from the B+ terminal on the altenator to the battery and did you run it thru the fuseable link and link up the heater relay to it?
i was just going to run a wire from the altenator on the other side and connect it to those two white wires?
hmm dnt know

i ran the two fat white wires from the alternator across the engine to a jaycar fuse box - then directly to the battery. No fusible links for this little kid.
