Conversion engineering questions

I am looking for some information on getting a front subframe fabricated. I'm from Geelong, so after information on anyone in Vic who can fabricate a frame for me, with the engineering certificate and all.
The plan is to pick up a cheap 4EFE or maybe get onto 4EFTE and jam it in the front of a Mini. I know brad (unsure if he's a member here, but he's a member on ausmini.com) is almost finnished his 4EFTE conversion in his Mini, but he is in NSW, so can't really help me.
I know that probably no one here has ever done a transplant of anything into a Mini, but i'm sure a few have done transplants into other cars that have needed something along the lines of a frame fabricated and engineered.

Before you invest anything, talk to Vicroads and find out any legality issues about the engineering side of things. They can also send you a list of registered engineers.
Or you can just pretend its stock.
Afraid I can't recommend anyone though.

While I've always avoided minis myself, I've seen them at shows etc. with different engines in them. I could probably talk to people I know and someone might be able to recommend someone, if nobody else here has any ideas!

I've been to the rod shop a few times, just for looking though, never asked them about a conversion. I've sent em an enquiry, so lets see if they wanna do it. Something different for them to do if they are sick of boring old V8's, lol.

I have heard that you can get pre-made kist for this conversion in England - which is still mini made. Have a surf.
Other than that I only know of NSW places that might be able to help.

Yer, the pre made kits are only available for Honda VTEC engines. 900 pounds just for the subframe, which I spose isn't too bad, but then ya gotta get it shipped over here! The VTEC is a massive engine, and too much has to be changed. You even have to put a 6" longer front on it!

et n15 , turbo engines fit well and are very cheap
also the morris 1500 engine and box conversion is another one that comes to mind . But why not just go to a later metro mg engine or something , thats a bolt in job .
Those car are the worst things to work on ever , and thats not even modified . Welding nuts to pieces of wire to get subframe bolts in etc . Those car where designed to give the shits to people working on them all over to world . Gees have i done lot of on concourse cooper before
