twin thermo fans ae82 Thu, 29 July 2004 02:48 Go to next message
Hey
i've just recently ripped out the 4ACrap engine outta my ae82 and put in a 4age but i couldnt get both fans back in because the exhaust manifold sticks out to far towards teh radiator. is there any way i can reverse mount the fan properly? at the moment it is a pretty dodgy job, i had to take out the condensor and sorta cable tie/ jam the thermo fan infront of the radiator and swap the plug around so it blows air into the radiator rather than sucking it thru. the problem is i will be puttin a/c back into the car later and this setup wont fit with the condensor in there. I have run the car with one fan but found that in heavy city driving it gets quite hot like the temp needle gets to 3/4, or at the end of the M in TEMP on the guage if you know what i mean, and the fan is just going flat out. this probably could also be a problem with my radiator not flowing properly i guess but i never had any hassles with the 4ac. Could the exhaust manifold be creating a hot area on the radiator, i didnt think that it was that close plus it has got heat shielding on it. Any ideas?

Thanks guys

My twin cam has only one thermo fan and it seems to do a good enough job in traffic. But having said that the car usually runs cold and only comes up to temp when it's sitting for a while. Good luck........Chris
