18rgeu wiring problem Fri, 30 July 2004 07:22 Go to next message
Got everything together today, no joy however. After studying Norbie's and other wiring diagrams, I thought I'd had it right, but no go. I don't think there is an injector pulse, and as a check, there is 12 volts flowing from both terminals in a single injector clip, to earth. This doesn't sound right?

I was under that one of these terminals should have 0 voltage, unless the ecu switched the earth (pulsed)?

From memory I had the same issue with mine.
The injectors earth to fire from the EO1, EO2 pinouts.
But the sound of it you are not getting a IG signal from your Igniter.

Sound familiar??

Could be? How do I check? I am running a converted 18rg dizzy with a 21rc ignitor.

My Dizzy has two wires (pink, white) that run to the Igniter. did your conversion result with these two wires?

Yep, pink and white going from dizzy to ignitor, black going to coil -ve, and beige going to coil +ve. There is another yellow wire no going anywhere. It worked fine with the carbies, but i'm not getting jumping tacho needle when i try to kick it over either, so that could be related? I'm getting spark out of the coil and at the plugs though.

OK Yellow wire = IG signal.
Try that.

Not off the top of my head But I'm pretty sure that the yellow wire needs to be connected to the IG pinout in order to run.
The signal from the coils is a different signal. I'm not 100% on this but it is how mine is set up.

I'll try and find my diagram when I get home and try and get back to you.

Can anyone else confirm that I have a problem if both terminals on the injector clip have 12v+ going to earth? To clarify, my wiring goes from a relay to a thick black/yellow wire to a resistor box then to the injectors.

Now, the white/green and white/red should go to the ecu, where it is switched, and then earthed via brown wires on the manifold.

I am getting a 12v+ reading from both terminals, so that means the ecu is feeding 12v+ through the white/green, white/red wires to the injectors?

hey matt the reason u get 12v at both terminals is cause u get feedback thru other injectors

disconnect all injector plugs and test again

this shoul dstop feedback thru other injectors

but it is normal to get 12v on both pins
the trigger side of the injector is no load virtually
when u r testing like that thats y the 12v doesnt harm the ecu

Ah yes thanks for that. I tried your trick from a previous post about touching the ig wire to an earth quickly to simulate a pulse, didn't get any ticking, so my problem is most likely no ignition signal, as lambolica stated? What may cause this?
