Why would you need one?
A wastegate on a turbo makes the exhaust gasses bypass the exhaust wheel of the turbo... it needs this because the more boost going into your intake the more exhaust coming out to the turbo... without a wastegate you would frequently push your turbo out of its efficiency band and cause damage to it.
A superchargers output is pretty much limited by the RPM your engine can go to... most superchargers have an electric clutch which the ECU can use to turn the supercharger off in overboost situations, although if you're pushing the supercharger that hard all the time its not good.

Yeah what he said, superchargers don't have (or need) wastegates. If you're talking about BOV's that's a whole other story, but once again supercharged engines don't need them - not that that stops some people from installing them anyway.

Norbie, i would disagree with this.
A positive displacement blower has the TB situated before the compressor. So in that case, no BOV.
However, alot of the centrifical blowers nowdays create boost before the throttle body and need a BOV to release the pressure between the compressor and the throttle butterfly.

I'm aware of that, but in this context we're discussing 4A-GZE's and 1G-GZE's, which means throttle mounted before PD blower.

...<cont. from norbie>..... but people still put a BOV on there, just to suck IN all that unfiltered air....
