can it be? 18r-ge Sat, 31 July 2004 10:58 Go to next message
hi
i was wondering if anyone would know if this would work or has been done. would a 18r-geu (low compression engine) head be compatible and fit to a 18r-g (higher compression) block without there being any clashes etc? would this be a good combination?
i thought this maybe good seen as 18r-g block has the higher compression and the 18r-geu has the big valves and fuel injection

any opinions or ideas would be appreciated
cheers brett

AS far as i know it should be a straight swap but the only ones with high comp are the first of the rg's i think. Make sure its the high comp one or its just a waste of time.

I've just done pretty much just that.I've put 9.7.1 pistons in an 18rgu block and an 18rgeu head 88270. Blocks are all the same just comp are different for each variant motor. The valve clearance was questionable. But once fitted and checked clearances were good.I have not started it yet, maybe next week. Though I will put a piggy back computer in it because off the cams used 88231 18rg, might run a bit funny without this and premium fuel to be used.
