lo first post. Smile

ok bascially i wanna know what the half red section on the rev counter means.

at 7,300 it goes from white lines to red
at 7,700 it becomes solid red

so what is the difference between the two? is the engine still damaged if it revs beyond 7,300?

In my last car (1.4 VW Polo) it was just solid red from 6,000 onwards.

Thanks Smile

just hold it tapped until it bounces off the rev limiter, then shift, the numbers are there so your mum never ever reaches them

You do't have to rev them much past 7500rpm. After that it's probably more noise than performance. The idea is to shift so the revs in the next gear is at your torque peak (probably about 4500rpm). I don't know what the rev limiter is on my 4age., but I know someone that hit 9000rpm in an early model mr2 4age and he never hit a rev limiter so be careful. You don't want to blow your motor on something silly Smile

i reckon the 4age block is pretty damn strong. rarely hear someone blowing a 4age, unlike honda vtec that always blow. Had a friend with silver top 20v that goes to 11,000rpm, just like initial D!

yeh then he woke up and got his hand off it

Mate its a fricken CARTOON

u will kill a silvertop in fact any 4age if u rev it that far, thats why we have rev limiters Razz. if u had a little understanding of what is actually goin on INSIDE the engine block u wuld know why.
