Old Skool Drift Vid - KE70 and KP61 Sun, 01 August 2004 04:16 Go to next message
Thought I'd share a snippet from a BM DVD I just got.

It's a bit of a change from the usual "Look at those AE86's drift - I want one" video's. Smile

I lie - actually, it's an AE70 and not a KE70 ... for those wondering, it's running a 4AGZE and the KP61 a stock 20valve.

Enjoy (2MB):

Also Bonus Vid link - D1 Grand Prix Opening (6MB):

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/Speed.zip

Hopefully this will alleviate the sudden interest in AE86's and make KE70's 'da bomb'! Laughing

Ah cheers for that - I doubt Australia ever got the AE70 so I was wondering what engine it came with stock but knew it was an A series engine of some sort.

The DVD came off the latest BM magazine (August 2004) which you can get at the Kinokuniya bookstore for $20 or so.

They are a good read as they have many pics of real life drift cars and actually list the specs.

I am surprised that that KP61 is running spring leafs on the rear (you can see them in the vid but they're damn low) however the mag doesn't say what gearbox it uses.

BTW, for all interested, latest news from Japan is that Nomuken actually took first place at the last D1 Grand Prix drift comp held at Ebisu last weekend. I was told it was a political decision given that the runner up was supposedly the better drifter on the day, being the Dropout Racing AE86 coupe.

As for decision vs Hibino Nomura. With practice travelling, in addition Nomura cannot do the drift. unless it refuels in every travelling 2, had entered in a state that condition of gas defect appears.

But, it favored this even unexpectedly Hibino. "When it soars, it is defeated", that Hibino who is thought says that it was possible to make feeling time of oil supply of this settle.

Deciding 1 contacts became dangerous game mutually, but while putting out also the good place there was also small mistake, rushed to re-game.

But, also at this re-game and ends in development. In addition, this time, as for it had become impossible with consequence of powering down to be able to connect the drift from the last corner

But, 1 of the game where Nomura had become precedence, finally big mistake came out. With approach of 2 corners, or Hibino's of following drift returned it approaches to Nomura too much. Approximately as for 2 these which are replaced, also both ran with no mistake and regular game first victory of the drill and Nomura was decided.

The result of this round, with point ranking, Nomura and Taniguchi lined up into the premier position. But, Kazama has attached to the next in 6 point differences. The champion dispute when still it is made chaos, the next game, ' receives folding round of 04 series.

I dont know if some specific KP60/61 is converted to leaf springs but all RWD Starlets originally had four links and no panhard. OEM box is K40 or K50.
