Camping stores sell similar items... They are basically a chemical reaction that results in heat that is used for personal comfort in cold weather. Kind of like an ice pack that you break the dividing wall inside and the previously separate chemicals react to produce hot/cold. Having said that, I am not sure these warmawhatevers are a liquid chemical, rather something else.
They are quite ingenious because they produce a relatively constant temperature for an extended period. You'd think it would start cold then get to a crazy high temp and then die. :S

ive seen these things, they're wicked
they look like they're freezing, but they get hard and warm up
then all you have to do is either microwave or freeze them (can't remember) and they are ready for use again

If they are like what I think they are like then they are like a gel pacl that goes hard when heating. A chemical reaction induced by "snapping" a metal (magnesium I think) disc inside the pack. When it's over boil or microwave and returns to gel and ready to go again. I've been lead to believe that they are filled with heavily saline water and the disc is magnesium and chemist stuff that I don't understand happens.

OK guys, the original for sale thread would have been deleted because I imagine someone trying to off-load 600 of the things would be classed as commercial.
The question about what they are has been answered, so this can just fall off the bottom of the page.
