Engineering costs and others

Hey there.
Just a quick one.
If you fit a small turbo to a ge running low boost I assume you would still need an engineering certificate. In an AE82 twinky would fitting series 2 SX front rotors and calipers be sufficient?
(Should probably ring engineer). Also, does the price of the green slip go up much? I would only be doing 3rd party property insurance (does that go up at all).
What are you usually looking at for engineering pricewise?
Thanks

Just rang an engineer - doesn't look good unless you get a full convo, including g/box etc.
just probably buy a stock car that has got a turbo...

You should probably keep in mind that you will get different stories from different engineers. And they can vary a great deal it would appear!

what does the g/box have to do with an engine conv? isnt the cert for structural and safety purposes?
if you blow a box cause it cant handle it then bad luck but i dont see how the box will affect engineers

some engineers dont like to certify things unless everything is also upgraded to handle the extra power, for instance a 4a with a turbo it owuld be advisable to use the 4agze box.
One engineer i spoke to wanted written documentation that my w55 and f series diff could handle the power of my 1g, now who besides a engineer is going to put their name to say it is ok, hence I'll be going to a different engineer

i cant remember the name of the guy in minto but he was VERY reasonable with my cousins cordia. now this thing had an evo5 motor and a HUGE turbo and was an absolute WEAPON and it passed no problems. he just did basic checks and asked alot of questions. as long as he had made an attempt at upgrading the brakes it was ok, all he did was put in metal pads! as long as you know what your talking about and the conversion looks neat he was happy.
