which EFI engines have TPS that isn't a switch? Fri, 06 August 2004 03:29 Go to next message
hi folks,

can you help me compile a list of EFI engines in which the TPS is a variable potentiometer, not just an idle and WOT switch?

i've got something sorted for the 18R (a rb30 throttle body & tps) but if/when i do the 5me i'd like to find a toyota TPS so i don't have to adapt a mis-fitting sensor from another maker (and so far, all i can find and easily remove are v6 comodes, efi camira's and the occaisional nissan).

engine model & year v.useful (part # would be even better)

tia, charles.

why cant you use the 5me one?
later model 5mge's had potentiometer tps's
but you'd have to find an import or import one.

5ME has switch(es) only
as does 18rgue (or so i've found so far)

am trying to avoid import cars as the wreckers keep closer eye on them

some bloke on the MS forum used one off an EA falcon on his 2tg

mounted it too the TPS backing plate on the TB

the tps backing plate is the same for the 18rg as far as i know

Edit: and as i check the tread again msot of that info is irrelevant Razz i guess add to the list EA tps's Smile

All 4ages for a start. Then I imagine all the later model engines, JZs, UZs, 3Ss, even 1Gs & 7Ms.

Ill be keeping an eye out at the wreckers tomorrow too. I'm doing an 18R-G, and i want to be using an aftermarket ECU - hence analog TPS.

i got mine today off of a vl commodore 6 cylinder. mades some new mounts for it and it also takes the same plug as my old wiring. Only thing is the extra plug it has but im guessing we can just disregard it.
