On later model cars, there is no speedo cable.
Instead, an electrical signal is generated off the sensor, then sent to the ECU for some reasons, like speed cut (speed =180km/h), idle (speed = 0), also a signal is sent to the instrument cluster to drive the speedo.
Most cars have this sensor on the gearbox where the speedo cable used to be, mine is driven off the front wheels ABS sensors.

Some ECU's use it for functions other than speed cut (e.g. idle control, A/T control), and sometimes others - some engines run a lot better with it connected.

Yep, my engine runs better with the sensor connected, but it's still ok without. It's also used for stuff like the cruise control.

Well from what i can tell, this speed sensor is used to feed the trip computer, the speedo, ABS and the ecu.
The 2jzge came from a manual jza80 so it rules out all the AT stuff.
This could only possibly connect to the gearbox somehow in a similar fashion to the current cable gear i assume to work properly?
