Petrol prices

From what i saw last night at the servo it might be time to get a 44 gallon drum and fill it up with petrol.
When i was there and having a chat to the bloke who works at the place he showed me a memo they got from head office which basiclly said that the price is going to increase to $1.30 a litre.
It didn't say when but it won't be far off i think with the price of crude nudging US$50 a barrell.
Thankfully the cab runs on gas but that could go up as well.
Just thought i would let you guys and girls know.

I wouldnt think they would inform the store employee's that much in advance. Having said that I'll probably fill up on monday as long as its not $1.30
Filling up on friday/saturday/sunday around here is suicide, they seriously jack up the prices over the weekend.

i know that for fact
we never used to get the next price update until the afternoon\night before it was set to change(that was working for a caltex owned, non franchise, caltex servo)

i wouldnt use those cheapo servos they blatently put ethanol in the fuel and their premium is only something like 94 octane, my car needs premium and i find only ultimate 98 is the good shit, you pay more for it but its heaps better.
That my two cents...

It was a Shell, so i figured they wouldnt have alot if any ethanol. I never go to individual stations coz of that ethanol thing.

Someone who i cant mention worked for a petrol magnate in the states four 10 years and they have informed me of the profit margins at service stations and they cannot affod to give 4c off a litre, they would not be making money, its as simple as that and if every 10th customer came in with one of those vouchers then they would be operating at a loss all day...
Hence they have to put ethanol in thier fuel to make it profitable other whise they would lose thousands a week...

*sigh* I wish we had E85 down here, and I could get a sports car to run it. Depending on some things it could be about half the price of petrol, with a higher RON rating (like, 110 or something). Stupid Australian govornment always waits till the last moment to step into the future.

yeah no shit, there is a couple of servos in adelaide that sell 100 octane "racing fuel" which is just japspec fuel but they want $1.50 a fucking litre, thats rediculous, its cheaper to get a bottle of octance boost and throw it in your tank

What a bunch of whinging fags!!! Id be more worried about the quality of the fuel then the price. What would you rather do, pay 60 cents for shit fuel or 2$ for good fuel?? Think about it.
For the mr2 i'm paying something like 1.17 at the moment.
As for the higher ron fuel, the servo i used to work at (well the depot) looked into it but decided against it.

Well the petrol price for Helix at the moment in Sydney seems to fluctuate for $1.00/L which I got it for Fridya night to $1.17 or round about which is what it seems to be most of the time. Damn random 20c/L increases, buying petrol is like winning the lottery at the moment

I've got no problem putting 118.9 cpl BP Ultimate in my car, coz it goes for like a million k's on a tank. If you wanna take good care of your car you should be prepared to spend a bit at the bowser.
After all, isn't petrol actually the second cheapest liquid in the world, second only to water?

I don't notice the price of petrol anymore... . But if I had to pay for it I'd be a bit annoyed!
If you don't want to pay it, get a diesel car and make your own biodiesel.

i agree.
most exxy i had to use was 119c/L but it's nothing compared to europe prices...
fwiw, my NEW stocko 1.1L 1969 corolla sprinter that i just drove back from melbourne to sydney used just over 50L not bad for about 900km (via moe/sale)
if you ENJOY driving, then stop thinking/whinging about petrol prices. if you were really worried, you would not be on toymods, and would own subaru sherpas or daihatsu handivans

Have to admit, the prices do see saw.
I dont drive my crown too much, still trying to work out if i have a blown head gasket or not, seeing some days she drinks the coolant, and others she doesnt, but i do try and wait till premium non leaded is cheaper in the "Named" servos.
Well, i do get the lower grade for my girlfriend's commodedoor and drive that all the time. It does not slurp the juice like the 7mgte, but then again, it does not give me a smile on my dial like the wagon.
Hmm, maybe i should throw in a 4K in the other crown wagon for better fool economy.

DO you reckon you would kill yourself if you drank 80 litres of petrol a week as well?
Nah only kidding, as for the just fill up, well it costs me nearly $100 to fill my tank when premium is $1.20 a litre thats fucked, thats like half a weeks wage, well not half maybe a third...

95 octane is here 1.15¤ or 1.96 AUD
98 is 1.20¤ which is about 2.05 AUD
Diesel is 0.85¤ ~ 1.45 AUD(more dear than your premium. Nice )
I use 98E only.
Car taxes are insane also, especially for diesel cars.

On the ABC, there's a science show called Catalyst, and a couple of months back they were talking about the fuel crisis.
Anyway, this old dude in Como, devised a alternative fuel. Bascially it's concentrated fish faeces that he collects from the Murray River. Once it's processed into a liquid at his property, a few additives are added for engine protection and there is only a 4% power loss, but fuel economy increases by approx 11%.
I don't know about the smell from the tail pipe, but it was interesting viewing nonetheless...

There are a lot of different naturally occuring oils/hyrdocarbon chains that can possibly be "cracked" to provide short-chain alkanes for use as Petrol, however the cost of processing these fuels on a large scale is generally much higher than petrol from crude oil. The real driver to use alterative fuels is going to be either legislative (unlikely) or commercial, whereby the cost of petrol from crude oil rises higher than the cost of petrol from renewable resources.
Of course, by the time that happens we could all be driving cars with "Mr Fusion" reactors as power sources

i went to a small shell servo a couple weeks back to get some LRP... and they didn't sell any, i was like WTF?
and they said they no longer sell it anymore and neither will any other fuel station within 12 months, i was like, WTF?
he said that everyone who uses LRP will instead use premium unleaded with some type of additive... sounds fuckedup to me.
and also...
saw a science show where some guy in brisbane made this little black box he hooks up to his car, and then gets his garden hose, fills up his car with water and drives off... apparently the box he invented is able to split apart the h20 in water and give the right stuff to his car to get it going... officials then payed him alot of money to never use this device or tell anyone about how it works... aparently there were concerns for the shortage on water... yeah right...
and also, my uncle has a mate who back in the mid 90's bought a new common whore (commodore) and travelled back and forth from geelong to ballarat everyday (hours drive). and he noticed he only needed to fill up once every two weeks, as aposed to 2-3 times a week... he then found out from holden that he had a prototype vehicle accidently.. he then wanted to tell the newspapers about what holden had... holden told him that if he wanted to keep the car he would shut his mouth... so he did.
