Hey guys im noob so please bare with me
I was driving to Manly today when i was doing a change from 2nd to 3rd had clutch almost all way in and it still grinded, went meh at the time and kept driving, but everytime i shifted after that it made a metallic clunk sound.. it then did it again 30mins later. (It does something similar to this when i change down to second while im going over 30k's, which a few people told me was my synchros). Later i was getting close to the f3, (i live near gosford nsw) i was Accelerating hard out of a corner and went to change to 2nd and it just revved its tits off, i pulled over and realised i had no 2nd, 4th or reverse when i changed to those gears it didnt feel like it was doing anything at all, When my dad heard about this he said it might have something to do with the linkages?
Anyway my car is a 1990 Celica SX, Just had a Heavy Duty Daikin Clutch put in 3-4000ks ago. Anyone had this problem before or know what to do? Im not sure if i should get a new gearbox, get the other1 repaired or if it even has anything to do with the gearbox? Please help

Dude it sounds like selector troulbes.
The corolla being front wheel drive runs cables as linkages between g/box and gearstick.
Does it select these gears when the car is not running?
Does the gear stick fell different when moving it thrugh the gears?(sloppy)

thanks mate for the quick reply!
sorry didnt try it when the car was off..
The thing was that when i was near home i tried again and all gears were back.. it still makes metallic noises when i change, but its handy to reverse at least for the moment (this was after i drove the f3 for out 30mins in 5th, oh and the metalic noises sound like somethings loose)
So this can hopefully be fixed without replacing the gearbox ??

It gets hard to diagnose over the computer but the fact they have come back is probably a good sign it's selector related.
the metal noise while driving is a worry though.
Does the noise come and go?
is it speed related I.E does it get worse or louder the faster you go??
is the gearstick tight to move or sloppy??
let us know

this looks like a problem with whoever did the clutch install.
this stuff doesn't get "dry" or out of adjustment in 3-4000Ks.
