SC400/SC300 fuel economy Sun, 08 August 2004 19:53 Go to next message
Hey I'm looking at getting a Soarer this year and my mrs wants to know about the relative fuel economy of the Turbo 6 and the 4.0 V8. Anyone help?

If you're worried about fuel economy, a Soarer of any description is not the car for you! They're big heavy cars with powerful engines, so it's a given they'll use lots of fuel.

When I was looking at them a while back I was told the v8 uses less petrol than the 2.5L TT.

My mates TT can get about 10km/Litre if he is not hammering it.

that is not too bad I reckon.

Razz
well thats not very helpful is it...
I'm not after economy, what I want is figures...
My MA61 chews 15litres/100KM, if the Soarer is around the same then I would be happy. If it's 20litres like some v8 commonwhore,
then it can go jump.
so who can help?

I get around 13-15L/100km in a rather worked 1JZ-GTE Soarer (2.5L twin turbo). The V8 model does give better economy, despite the fact that it is a 4 litre engine.

How many kms do you guys get each tank?

I have a friend with a TT, and it gets about 550km/tank

Also, my friend with a JZA80 with over 380rwkw, still gets 450/tank, and drives it daily to work. I think most toyotas are fuel economic.

my mates jzz30 gets between 500 and 700kms a tank he said. Depends on the right foot Smile

slighty OT: my 1jz powered rona got 340kms from a 30L tank which included 45minutes of flogging it around QLD raceway. However, I think my car is a little lighter than a Soarer Smile

Thanks for all the info people...

looks like it's a 1991 or so V8 Soarer for me in september.
I heard that the Limited is worth steering clear of because of too many electronic gadgets to f**kup... have not heard any other horror stories.
