hey
just wondering how do i remove the clutch cable from a K40 g/box, from what i can see, it goes through a bracket bolted to the block, then through the bellhousing(?) and then through to the clutch lever.
so far i have tried putting the clutch to the floor, but that just tightens the cable, the engine is a 4K if that helps at all, is there some way i can do this myself, or will i need someone else to help. ?
cheers David

once you have taken the little hook part off the clutch fork you should be able to just pull the cable out through the hole in the bellhousing
spray a lot of CRC in there if it wont come out

follow the cable up to the firewall and there should be a retaining clip you can take off - you might need a mate to help you pull on the cable so you can get the clip off
then the cable should slack a bit and you should be able to get the little hook off the clutch fork

David, you can release the clutch cable from the gearbox throw out bearing lever, by removing the circlip at the firewall end of the cable. However IF you wish to remove the cable from the bellhousing, you will also have to release the top end of the cable from the clutch pedal inside the car. You also have to remove the circlip at the front of the bellhousing(where the cable goes through)then you pull the clutch cable rearward out of the bell housing. I did a clutch job on a KE Rolla last week. Hope this helps.
regards Chuck.
