Hey Guys, as you know, Im doing the 1J to IS200 conversion thing.
My friends tell me, Why get an aftermarket ECU, when the Manual Soarer ECU should be able to run it fine?
The turbos will run standard, boost, and have a FMIC and 3" Exhaust+dump. What do you guys suggest?

With those mods I see no reason to fork out for an aftermarket ECU.

Thats good news! Sweet as! So I definatley need a Manual ECU? My mechanic is definite he can use the Auto, but I disagree.

No, guys have done Manual conversions on Soarers before without switching the ECU. It is "better" to use the manual one but it's not what I'd call an issue as they still run just fine. Just small reports about the timings being alittle off.

weren't you planning on going single turbo though?
If you are going to in the future it may be better to get an aftermarket ECU now so you only have to do the wiring once.
Alternatively, you could run the standard ECU to get it going and then just use some piggyback style computers if you don't end up going too hardcore with it. That is what I think I will do anyway

If you are absolutely, definitely planning on leaving the thing as-is then go the factory computer. If you plan to modify further down then I would definitely get an aftermarket computer (either Haltech or Motec, apparently Autronics are had to set up on JZ motors) in the first instance.
This way you don't spend the money on wiring twice over, you don't end up with a mottled loom from so many changes in management, and don't end up with extra holes and shit from different mounting points etc.

LOL why do you keep asking about the climate control?? The engine ECU runs the engine, just the engine, not the climate control, not the stereo, not the headlights, the engine!
