Invitation to Toyota Nationals Inc Dyno Day (Newcastle)
|
Mon, 09 August 2004 09:38
|
|
The Toyota Nationals Inc would like invite Toyota Nationals supporters, Toymods members and friends to our first annual Dyno Day.
When: 28th August
Where: Scotts Dyno Tune, 25 Maitland Rd, Mayfield (between the BP and Avis car rental. Drive in the BP driveway and you'll see Scotts at the back)
Time: 9am to 3pm
Cost: $50 per car
Conditions and other Details:
Trophies will be awarded in the categories listed below but to be eligible you must have a Toyota powered vehicle.
Non-Toyota powered cars are welcome but are not eligible for a trophy and those cars must wait until all Toyota powered cars have had their go.
Scotts have set a limit of 40 cars but we'll see how we go (we don't really want to turn people away)
To make things simple, lunch will not be offered but there is Kentucky across the road, Maccas 5 mins up the road plus a few takeaway shops close by.
Trophies will be awarded for:
* Best aspirated up to 2 litres
* Best forced induction up to 2 litres
* Best aspirated up to 3 litres
* Best forced induction up to 3 litres
* Best over 3 litres
* Best overall
Additional Comments:
This new thread has been created to try and leave the comments of the last thread behind. Many things were said and a lot of confusion crept into the thread regarding this event and the Toyota Nationals weekend. I have taken those comments on board and they will be addressed in due course and information will added to our website that I hope will clarify those comments.
In regards to the dyno day though, this is not part of the Toyota Nationals. It is a separate event run by the Toyota Nationals Inc and it is not sponsored by anyone . The cost has been set by Scotts Dyno and the day has been organized first and foremost to provide a dyno comp for those who don't get the chance to run their car at a Toymods day and secondly, to promote Scotts Dyno as part of the Toyota Nationals sponsorship agreement.
As I said, other comments raised in the previous thread will be addressed shortly however I can assure everyone that the Toyota Nationals Inc is definitely a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to run the Toyota Nationals weekend. We are bound by the same legal rules and regulations as other such organizations and I was personally a little shocked that anyone would think we are doing anything other then the right thing with money raised.
If anyone has anything they would like to email about privately please feel free to do so. I would rather that then have another shit fight and potentially destroy what I think will be a good day.
Grant

Is it the same place that's getting a 4WD dyno soon? If so, I'd be up for this event the next time it was run.

thanx to everybody involved in making it a good day out. i made a measily 253hp in my JZX90 Chaser due to my spark plugs not being gapped correctly causing the motor to missfire. ooh well, maybe next time.

The JT RACING Navara smashed the competition to bits !!
468 rwhp or 349 rwkw (minor difference i know but every hp counts) with heaps of wheelspin.
Paul didnt mention that the Ute overheated the dyno retarders on its 3rd pull, its a 600 hp dyno.
I'll post the chart soon, but the power curve is nearly vertical
at 400 rwhp then it loses traction, drops 50 hp instantly and then squeezes out another 100 hp as the rollers catch up to the wheels. This was only revved to 7000 rpm as well, dyno operator didnt know we had logged it at 9000rpm before and were happy to use 8000 on saturday.
Great day - well organised and friendly low stress environment. Quality cars too.

Was a good day - interesting mix of cars.
Have actually been back to the same dyno today - and run a best of nearly 10 more HP than saturday (now 137.5hp vs 128.4hp) - which for a dead stock 2zzge ain't looking bad.
You can't seat of pants test what sometimes you can learn on a dyno in minutes. (unless your from JTracing and learn your Navara gets big wheelspin and is awesome to watch) - duh.
A big well done has to go to the organisers.

yeah the corolla is a little package how did you get the 10 h.p
btw the dyno operator did say that with the jt ute trying to walk off the rollers that it was impossible to rev any harder but that the ute was "an easy 500 maybe 550" .
to even get a reading youd need a heap of weight plus their new dyno ...coming soon
still funny to see the dyno start overheat .thats like the best pub story around " yeah almost cooked the dyno ..too much power"

Celicamad - this thread is the different runs I did to get the rest of the power.
http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=42566&start=0&rid=&S=02694c207bf3281 6b4342fd9f774753e
Interesting to compare what I made compared to that 2Jjzge - I know it had an exhaust did you see anything else? (mind you the curve would look nothing like mine, area under the curve was substantial....)
I think the leave it standard idea is gradually fading....
Grant, there's trophies?
