Wrecking RA23 Mon, 16 September 2002 07:50 Go to next message
I'm now wrecking my old green RA23. Most of the front has gone, so no grille or parkers. Doors have rust in them, so don't get too excited with those, and don't ask about the bonnet.
After a quick look, these are the bits that look good.
Driver's side guard blinker and chrome surround - perfect.
Passenger side guard blinker and surround - faded

Tail lights very good. Also center section that goes between the lights is also good. no cracks.

Towbar

Dash cap - Very good! No cracks. Not warped to the shithouse like in my red one.

Seats - standard. front passenger seat needs new bracket where the base connects to the seat back. Otherwise, the seats are really good. Look to have been re-trimmed. Cloth on the front and vinyl on the back. These seats felt really good. The top of the rear seat has faded, but no rips or tears in them. All interior bits match the standard tan/brown interior.

Passenger side interior trims are dodgy as. Driver's side are good though. The chrome striping is starting to come off though.

Boot seems good, but has orange peel on it, so who knows what's underneath the paint.

Exterior c-pillar trims are in one piece - chrome has faded/chipped off though.

Rear window is good. No scratches, cracks etc. Not tinted

All window regulators are good. Especially the driver's one.

Fuel cap is pretty good, but doesn't have a key.

All the bits will be going cheap, so come have a look and make me an offer. Call me on 0403 97 4409, reply here, or email me if you have any questions.

I might be interested in the window regulators, drivers and passenger sides. How much would you want for them? Cheers, Chris.

Just the door regs or the rear quarter window regs as well? I'd say $35 for both door regs (plus postage) and I'll have to check the rear ones to make sure they're worth the effort of pulling out.

they're actually for an ra28 so I won't need the rear ones. They're both nice and tight - the window isn't tilting at all? (This is the main problem with my passenger side one, making it a bitch to wind up unless you keep holding it straight). The price is okay - COD? Thanks, Chris.

Yep. Before I pull them out, I'll make sure they're really good. I do remember having some probs with my passenger side one, but I think that was more to do with the actual guides in the door. And yeah $30+ post is fine.

I'll grab your details as soon as I've checked them out for you.

Brakes and booster are good. Front left rubber hose connection leaks and rear left wheel cylinder leaks. If you want to come and pull them off yourself, $20 for the front brakes. But, I've got Sigma GSR rims on it and some of the wheel nuts will probably be a bastard to get off. (hex nuts). How urgently do you need the brakes? If it's not too urgent, I can get back to you when I've got the rims off. Shouldn't be too long, because I want to sell them.

Oh yeah, the center console is pretty dodgy. The radio section is no good at all.

All I can say about the steering box is that it worked. There's heaps of play in the steering wheel though. May just need the box adjusted. $10 if you remove it yourself.

Guys, the dash is a greyish colour. No cracks, but it doesn't fit snugly on the edges. Looks a lot better than a lot of other I've seen though. The front window regulators are good. The driver's side one feels bloody good. I'll pull these out as soon as nothing valuable is left in the interior (car is out the front of my house and it's been broken into before). The driver's seat is really good. Still very comfortable and trimmed nicely. $30 for it. And if you come and pull it out yourself, you can have the passenger and back seats for free.

I have to get rid of the car. Once some parts are taken off it, I can't have it sitting in my front yard. If any of you guys are local, send me an email or something and you can come and get whatever bits you like off the car (apart from the above mentioned bits if anyone still wants them) for nothing. All I ask is that these bits be taken from the car, so I don't feel like a bastard throwing decent Celica bits away. Anybody who comes around is quite welcome to sift through my pile of Celica stuff in my backyard. Call me on 0403 97 4009 on the weekend if you want to arrange to come and grab some bits. I'm near Penrith.

Sorry man. All the seats were taken on Sunday, Chriph's getting the regs and a mate's meant to be coming around pretty soon to grab the dash. The only decent trims are the driver's side ones. They're that tan/brown colour.

The chrome's coming off the trims too.

Sean how much for, the top right chrome strip for the rear window, bolt that holds the pan hard bar onto the body, bonnet bracket "not the hinges the bit on the right that stops the bonnet from falling and so forth" and the little knob on the interior light,

also what are the seals like where the back windows meet the door windows?

Somebody's already reserved the diff. If he comes around to pull the diff out on the weekend I'll measure it for you. What dimensions to you want?

The front guards, all the seats, console, blinkers, bootlid are gone. Dash is going to the same person the diff is. I'll pull the window regs out this weekend and send them to Chriph.

Tanman, bumper brackets are bent. Bumper indicators went onto my red celica - now melted.

Ginsie, the top right chrome strip for the rear window - I have all of them. If I can work out how to get them off without killing them I'll give them to you. The bolt that holds the panhard bar onto the body - I'll get that off when my mate comes round to rip the diff out. I'll give you all my bonnet hinges and brackets too. I'll take some tools home with me on the weekend and get most of that sorted for you. About $10 for the lot. The bonnet lifts smoothly too, so those hinges should be pretty good.

I'll message you when I've got some bits for you.

You don't still happen to have an uncracked rear-vision mirror you could send with the window regulators do you Sean? Mine's been stuffed for ages and I never remember to do anything about it - maybe it'll change my luck a bit. It'd be great if you do but anyway I'll get in touch with you soon about the regs. Cheers, Chris. Oh and would the passenger side lower door rubber still be functioning? - be doing better than mine, my nice new carpet's getting just a little damp.

None at all. I'm pretty busy on the weekends at the moment. Without a car, I don't have time in the afternoons after work to pull any bits off. I'll try and get the bits off as soon as possible. I'm getting hassled from two other people as well, so that should make me pull the bits off sooner.

My loan finally got approved today, so now I should have transport very shortly. If you're near penrith in the next couple of weeks, give me a ring and you can come and take all the bits you want for free. I'm just finding it a hassle to take my tools home from work on the train.
