Bucket Racing Seats Mon, 16 September 2002 10:18 Go to next message
ok well time is coming near where i'm sick of trying to hold on while i should be concentrating on the road so i'm looking at getting myself those Bucket Racing seats that i've always wanted but have been told that when you change seats in your car you should get them engineered otherwise insurence may be voided. is this true and if so what cost would you be looking at to get them engineered?

Yes it is true. Any modification to any safety feature ina car needs engineerign aproval. Just ring around for cost. Cant see it costing more than $40 tho as they just have to check to see if the welds and bolts are good.

Also, double check the seats themselfs.

Some comply with ADR (australian design rules) and are permitted for use on the road, and some have only FIA (or competition use only) on them.

While the ones with an international or FIA only approval are safer than the australian standard, if they dont have australian approval, they wont be allowed.

Quite a few of them come with, or have available brackets so you can bolt them stright onto the runners in your car. Makes getting them enginerred quite stright forward.

Good luck!

Craig.

Isn't it funny how the govenment does want you to make your car any safer....cant have safer seats. cant have safer belts (harness) cant have roll cage. Hmm think they're trying to tell us something??

<start rant mode>

Oh and according to Regency all AE82 Rollas have front sway bars... WIKKID that must be why they're so damn rare!

<end rant>
