Fuel Pump Relay - 1G-GTE??? Wed, 11 August 2004 01:00 Go to next message
Hi guys.
I have a 1G-GTE in a cressi and I noticed that when the engine was removed ( i didnt cut any wires on the engine loom) left behind was the fuel pump relay. The wires seem to have been cut although I didnt do it, and I cant find where the wires from the engine to the relay are.

Is that because the relay is part of the body electrics?? What should I do?? Please any advice from u 1G'ers would be great.

thanks

p.s sorry i don't have pictures, but i dont know how to attach them to this message Embarassed

might be worth your wile to go over a decent 1G wiring diagram

FP relay should be part of the engine loom - but is disconnectable as it tends to hide inside the car, not engine bay.

copy of one wiring diagram here:
<http://members.optushome.com.au/mkhala/red_celica/ 1G-GTE_info/>
and links at the bottom of that page goto some wiring diagrams and tech articles.

(PM me if the links are dead)

but there are plenty more about the place and this site - searching for "1G wiring" or "1G-GTE wiring" or "1GGTE wiring" will help.

well it was definitely in the engine bay, and from the looks of the diagrams I have, it comes from the computer, But how come I can't find the cut wires Confused.

Maybe I'll have to look harder

the wrecked RA40+1G-GTE that i got my hardware from had the relay and current limiting resister ibehind the left kick panel - put there by the sparkie who did the transplant.

there is a round 4-pin plug AND a smaller 2-pin rectangular plug between the relay/resister unit and the engine/ECU loom - the ECU side of those plugs (in my loom) had a new power line put in direct to the battery - but i'd say a factory install has power coming from the large white cable that runs thru the body loom from the alternator/battery.

you could adapt something from a post-5m car (i think 6mge has current limiting in the the FP relay, 5m doesn't) so MX8x cresidda might be a useful donor. again, check passenger kick panel as well as engine bay.

the original source of my 1G-GTe was an MZ soarer

do you want a pic of the relay/resister pack? PM with email add to send to and wether small/large files are suitable.
