Water leaking into fourth cylinder Mon, 16 September 2002 11:12 Go to next message
18R-GU motor. This all started last week when i took off the intake manifold to fix an oil leak, why does the head have those three square holes that water comes out when the intake manifold comes off. Anyway i put it back on with a new gasket using grease to help seal it but later finding out gasket goo should be used, drove it then notice water coming out exhaust and checked oil to find it milky, i took it off, found water sitting in port 4, so on again with another new gasket using gasket goo and now its still leaking into port 4 but not sptting out exhaust and not dirtying oil, the manifold looks straight, i cant see why its leaking coz it didnt leak before?

This post is a little confusing, i still havent fixed the problem. Im not even sure now if its leaking through the intake manifold gasket, is there any other way water could get into the fourth cylinder? The weird thing is that i never had a problem with water leaking into the fourth cylinder until i took off the intake manifold and put it back on.

The water flowing into the inlet manifold it to heat the inlet and make the fuel atomize better....(square holes??).

You might have a blown head gasket???

Cheers

The water dosent flow into my manifold, it should be blocking the water off but it could be getting through and going into port four, its the standard manifold i think, with twin solex carbys. I hope i havent blown the head gasket, its a bloody new rebuilt motor.

Another wierd thing is that the water level rises in the fourth cylinder when the motor hasent even been running, i can see it through the spark plug hole, the water rises up through the hole.
