86/4AC having trouble at high speeds

ok i have a 1983 aussie sprinter wit 4ac. just fixed up a crack in the head and afta driving it for a few months just last week it's been having problems in high speeds. at around 100+ kms the motor doesn't seem to accelerate at full throttle and instead i would lose speed then gain it again and lose it again it's scary shit. i know it ain't the motor cause theres no wired sound when it does it and it sounds as if sumthin stupid is holding ma car bac from producing power to accerlate harder i'm not sure. could sumone please help me

fuel - or lack thereof? = carby probs causing hunting / fuel filter or related sytem probs. Normal driving and revving in the lower gears most likely doesn't cause the problem because of the reduced load.

replace the fuel filter (the one in the engine bay) thois kinda thing happened to a friends car, it would totally cut out, then hunt up again, then keep doping that for ages, she was with the racv and the dude spotted it straight away, new filter and it was fine.
