Parts for 1jz Mon, 16 September 2002 23:04 Go to next message
Hi All,

I've just clocked 100,000K's on my soarer and want to replace the timing belt.

Where in Sydney can you get a timing belt and other parts for a 1JZ at a decent price.

While I'm here is there any other major services that should be completed around now or that I should plan for the future. Other than the the belt I was just planing on changing oil and filters... just the usual.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Very Happy

I got a Gates branded one... can't quite remember the part number, but I'll have a look for the box it came in.
I got mine from CBC in Bankstown.

If you talk to a Gates distributor, you'll have to ask for a Supra timing belt, and for some reason the catalog will have it listed at a IJZ-GTE... typo ('I' instead of '1').

thanks for that.....

If you have to ask for a supra belt does this mean its off a MA70?

Who cares if it fits though......

Also, I read somewhere that after you replace the timing belt you need to reset the ECU by either pulling a fuse out or disconnecting the battery for a few minutes....

Did you do this?

I got mine from the Toyota dealer. I've got the part number somewhere if you want it.

It was around $70

I tried at the Toyota Parts dealer in Kirrawee and they weren't able to get one for me.... they also wanted $570 for a little solenoid.... screw them.

Which Toyota dealer did you go to?

The part number would be very helpful.

Oh and Soarer, what does CBC stand for as I can't find who they are... Do you have an address or contact number?

You've all been very helpful so far... thanks heaps.

Try this number:
13568-46010

Im pretty sure thats it. I've been buying all my parts from the Toyota dealership in Shepparton. Most parts were actuualy cheaper brand new, than from the wreckers!!

There are 2 part numbers for the timing belt, one as Ytri has mentioned, as well as 13568-49025. Not sure which one I have, cos I can't find the box mine came in at the moment. Will hunt harder for it if needed.

Castle Hill Toyota deal with import parts I belive, so you might be able to fish a part number out of them if you need to verify. I'm sure they will try to charge a ridiculous price though because it's for an import car.

CBC stands for Consolidated Bearing Company... I got mine there cos my cousin used to work there.

Anyway, for further info, the belt has 137 teeth and is 25mm wide.

Sorry about that.
Yes, it was the one near the lighthouse. I thought it might have been you, but wasn't sure, so I had to ask Razz

For all those interested... I made an appearance at the Lexus Soarer owners cruise on sat night. Reasonable turnout (I think, first one i've been too).

Had between 15 and 20 soarers their.... pretty nice seeing them drive down the M4 single file at 110km/h.

Majority of them were running V8's but there was about 4 1jz's amoungst them including mine.... I love my TT and the modified V8's were having trouble keeping up, but damn they sound nice running through the airport tunnel. (one of them was running extractors into dual 3inch pipes).

Anyway... highly recommend it to you guys when there is another one.

A few pictures are here if you want a look.... they're pretty avearge due to light... or lack thereof.
