finally got my new head, looks very good, very noticeable difference in the cam lobes and valve lift.

first pics will be of the old head, then the new one, u should be able to tell the difference

it has new larger cams {282 deg on both sides and 12mm lift compared to 10.3}

new oversized stainless steel Ferrea valves

slight port job

shave

put both in, with the slots facing UP, and the cams should be back to front to this pic, i fucked up and put the cams back in b4 i sent it away, both intake and exhaust are IDENTICAL {std 88250 cams are anyway Confused } except that they are 180 degs out of phase from each other.

if my gibberish has made any sense then u should be fine,

btw, i have got mine installed and its fine, except that when at TDC on cyl 1 the slots face straight down, so when i line up the cams i have to have is at TDC on cyl 4

so melvin you will need 4mm shims know which puts a bit of weight in to the bucket, you would of been better to weld or hard face than take the base circle away .they were designed to have 1.5mm shims up to 3.20 mm max after this the shim can move out and get stuck up under the bucket pushing the valve down further towards the piston, but only up in the high rev range 5500 onwards. be very wary about this ,seen it happen a few times as the harmonics of the engine at high rpm few bent valves and a few holes in the piston. ps my 2 cents

how are you going for clearance in the cc?

will you need relief cuts? let me know, as this seems to be interesting.

and we want to see dyno figures someday.....

this is a 2nd head i bought off people100, for $100, he needed a bottom end, i needed a head so he bought a whole engine and i got the head Very Happy

celicaRA45:
i see what u mean, thanks for your concern Smile , but my dad thought of this and got longer valves, the valves are just a blank SS Ferrea valve, {originally to suit a SBC}, and he had to get the collet grooves machined and all that shit, so he got 0.100" longer. Smile

no i dont need any machining done, apparently u can run upto 302/302 duration b4 u have problems {going by the toysport.com site}

dunno about clearance but i have retarded and advanced the intake cam and it seems fine

melvin.....phil melvin

nearly killed the whole engine today.

last night i was playing around with the cam timing, and when i went to bed i left the ratchet on the crank bolt, with the ratchet set to "undo". Shocked

my wife had to day off, and she had to go to the doctors, she called and said it made a weird noise on startup and then stopped, when she restarted it she heard a clunk, she looked underneath and saw my ratchet and thought i just left it on top of the engine, so she drove off to the doctors and back home...... WITH NO CRANK BOLT. Shocked

luckily the pulley didnt come off, so i put the bolt back on and its fine now Embarassed
