hey guys,
i have a cressida sitting in my garage awaiting a 1j but cant find one around let alone for a reasonable price...
I found a really nice 1989 1u crown which suits me to a tee cause im all for cruising and not for speed...
it is drive away right now and would be good so i can get cressi out of garage...
should i sell the cressida and buy the crown or wait around for a front cut?
only thing worrying me is i dont know much about the crowns eg weight, fuel economy etc does anyone know if it is bad?
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

why not try a different engine in the cressida, like a 7M? still fun, and might save u waiting.

Definitely Cr0wn... Avoid doing a conversion yourself unless there is no alternative I reckon.

if you only want to cruise then why are you putting a 1JZ into a cressida, they are not cruising motors but good for power which isnt needed in over abundance if you only want to cruise...

so why do u say go the crown? is it going to be a nightmare with fuel consumption and electrical things breaking?
other than that i love the car itself...
as well: how much power do the 1u's have from that model crown?

Nothing beats a factory install. You would have more electrical problems with a conversion I reckon.
Fuel consumption will mainly depend on how you drive it.
The torque from a V8 will make it great for cruising.

it might be a powerful motor for cruising but i got the cressida cause i like the comfort etc which is good for cruising and it is a simple conversion...
i spose im trying to say i can give up some power that the 1j cressi would give for the style of a 1uz crown... it was sweet to drive!
another thing i have to consider is if i can get rid of the cressida cause it is ready for the 1j now which would not appeal to many buyers?

The 1JZ is an expensive conversion, unless you are as lucky as me , but seriously go for the 1UZ, sweet as motor and if i could afford it thats what would be going into my GZ, you just cant go wrong with a V8...
Especially one with quad cam...

Option 2
I don't think a 1J Cressi will be that much more economical. You'll have more money in your pocket and more skin on the knuckles with Option 2 as well.
