Idle problem GZE

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else has an idle problem with their GZE?? It idles fine when cold, and normal driving doesn’t miss a beat, but, when it’s warm, it will fluctuate and in many cases it stalls, until I stab the throttle and it will be all good again, my first thought was O2 sensor..changed..same thing..maybe change the leads and plugs?? What do you think?

Mine will idle out and stall sometimes when comming to a stop. Moreso when it is under high electrical load (headlights + stereo). So i'm pretty sure my prob is wiring related. Also when starting it when cold the idle hunts for about 10secs. Is it AFM?
It wouldnt be the o2 sensor because that is only used when in cruise.
Have you had the car for long, I think I saw you turning off evans road near the BP one day (ages ago). Very nice ride. I wasnt in my sprinter, otherwise I woulda waved

yeh, that would have been me no it's map sensor..i wouldn't have bothered with the AFM (planning on keeping it s/c) had it in thier for about 2 months now..it happens during the day even..if it's electrical on yours, maybe i could put the new leads plugs, and some stronger coil packs on? maybe...???

can you test for codes? my friends celica sx has the same problem as what you experiencing, hunting idle when the engine has warmed up, aswell as shit fuel economy. The ecu is thorwing codes that tell me the AFM and 02 sensor need replacing.
what about vacuum leaks?
monkeymajik: the o2 is also used when the engine warms up as it goes into closed loop mode.

no leaks i can see..it wouldn't be boosting very well!, only code it flashes is saying the o2 sensor is gone, and it's been clutch started?? (i dunno thats what the guy that did my wiring said!) but i have another o2 sensor from a ZE that was perfect.. same thing is happning, i'm thinking it's cos of the idle control module (little green box on the throttle body) my 3SGE throttle body will be taking care of that!!

well if it's throwing a code (22 or 24 i think it is) saying the o2 sensor is at fualt, only 3 things can set it off, a dud 02, bad wiring/contact or a vacuum leak. So maybe just check that wiring again? perhaps a bad ground.
Do you blow constant smoke while it's idleing? (grey smoke)

no it doesn't blow smoke, the a/f mixture is perfect on cruise and idle, according to the dyno and hellish rich top end what do you mean by a bad ground?

Is your 02 sensor a 1 wire or multiple wire variety?
The body of the O2 that screws into the exuast manifold is the ground connection, make sure it's got good contact, but chances are that isn't the problem, you put in a new working o2 sensor and the problems are still there.
Another thing to check, and i'm not sure your car would have it, is the o2 sensor after the catalytic converter. I'm not sure your car would have that second 02 sensor as it might just be a california emissions thing, but worth a look.
With my friends celica i checked the wiring from where the o2 sensor plugs in, all the way back to the ECU, the wiring was good, but i found other wires that were partially melted and exposed wire wich is dodgy. In the end it was a dud AFM and 02 sensor.

it's a 4 wire O2 sensor, i'm actually having problems with getting the gaket to stay in, and the o2 sensor is befor the cat..the wire is pretty good, and yep, it's grounded very well but i might double check that and get back to ya
