lt2000 Manual Conversion

Hey guys,
Im not sure if you've heard this question a million times before, sorry if its already been asked.
Anyway,i have the chance to pick up a nice lt2000 but the problem is its auto. I'm fine with engine/tranny swaps, so i was wondering what box is best to put in there? (assuming there is a better bolt up replacement for the lt's box), where it would come from and at what cost??
Again apologies if this is a repeat, cheers for the help.

lt2000 what? ive got a lt2000 ra40, i think it uses a w55. not too sure though.
the standard 2000 box is very strong, i know, because some friends of mine used to put them in geminis when they busted the izusu boxes.
well, 2ltr+18psi will do that.
just go stock, its cheaper, easy and legal.

Just grab all the bits you need from a manual version of your car. If we're talking Celica RA23/28/40 it should be easy enough to find at the wreckers.
You will need:
- gearbox (W50 5-speed)
- flywheel
- clutch
- crossmember
- tailshaft
- clutch pedal
- clutch master cylinder
- clutch slave cylinder
- clutch hydraulic line
Cost shouldn't be any more than $500 if you DIY.

its a 77, so i'd say RA28...?
so the best way to go is the box from a 28 aswell, hmmm.
Has anyone done a writeup on the conversion? I've had a quick search but no luck.
cheers for the replys too!

You can get parts from an RA23 or RA28, they're mechanically identical.
I don't know if anyone has done a writeup, but there's no point really - it's all very straightforward, and even if you've never done it before you shouldn't have any dramas. You said you're "fine with engine/tranny swaps" so I assumed that means you've done this sort of thing before?
