Toymods Dyno Day 5
Proudly Supported by Premier Auto Centre.

When : Sunday July 7th 2002 - 8am start
Where: Premier Auto Centre, 20 Sunblest Cres. Mt Druitt NSW 2770
Cost: Members $30,
Non-Members $35,
Members Nitrous Oxide Equiped Vehicles $60,
Non Members Nitrous Oxide Equiped Vehicles $65

The 5th Bi Annual Toymods Dyno Day is now firmly in place and scheduled for Sunday July 7th. As usual this is your chance to sort the walk from the talk as Toymodders and friends turn the rollers and strut their stuff.

The day is open to members and non members alike, all vehicles both Toyota and inferior, I mean otherwise are more than welcome.

Each vehicle will receive one Run on the 4WD Dyno at Premier Auto Centre.

Come on down bring your car and get a real comparison of what your car can do. The seat-of-the-pants dyno is great and most of us have an old dyno figure lying around or an idea of what they produce but there is no better way to measure your cars ability than on the same Dyno on the same day as everyone else. Sorts the men from the boys and the sprinter girls can cry in the corner Razz

FOOD !
BBQ lunch will be available on the day. We will have a Sausage sizzle going and cold cans of drink available.

Members will be able to buy a Sausage Sandwich for $1 and a cold can of
drink for $1. Non members will be able to buy a Sausage Sandwich for $2.50 and a cold can of drink for $1.

TROPHIES.

As per the last Dyno Day we will be offering 4 Class categories on the
day with the overall Killerwatt King perpetual trophy going to the highest overall score of the day. The last Dyno Day's Champ was Joe Freire and his 1JZ-GTE Powered MX73 Cressida with 205.4Kw who will hopefully be back to defend his title. Vehicles will be eligible to compete in only one class. The vehicle owner may choose to compete in a higher class but must do so before their Dyno Run. Each car may enter only one Class Category.

The 4 classes are:

Under 1800cc N/A Class
Under 1800cc Forced Induction Class
Over 1800cc N/A Class
Over 1800cc Forced Induction Class.

Class Trophies will be Presented at the end of the day as will the Trophy for the Killerwatt King proudly sponsored by Redline Motorsport.

TROPHY ELIGIBILITY.

# Only FINANCIAL Toymods members are eligible for trophies
# Only TOYOTA powered vehicles are eligible for trophies. At a bare minimum both the block and head must be of Toyota origin.
# Toymods Membership if due or new on the day must be paid BEFORE your dyno run
# Only your first Dyno Run counts towards the trophies. Should you wish to have a second run on the dyno you are more than welcome to do so. All are welcome to pay for a second run if time allows However Only the first run will be elegible for consideration. Time permitting Second Runs will be available at the end of the day.

The Offical Judging team on the day will accept comment from each vehicle owner BEFORE the car is unstrapped from the Dyno. The Judges Decision regarding any possible re-run is Final.

# The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. No arguments will be tolerated with the Dyno Operators and any inappropriate behaviour will result in the offending competeitor being asked to leave.

CLASS SELECTION.

The class eligibility for your vehicle is based on the presence of forced induction be it Turbo or Supercharger and the capacity of your engine. Since there is no way to determine an engine's internal modification capacity is based on the Original Factory capacity of the block used.

There are no boost limits for the forced induction classes, the toymods car club does not handicap those people who have constructed an engine capable of supporting higher boost levels. Summernats no longer imposes a boost restriction so we see no reason too.

N2O - Nitous Oxide is not permitted in the individual class categories.
However it is accepted for the Killerwatt King Trophy. Any Competitor wishing to run N2O will receive two runs on the one tie down. The first Run is optional and will be performed without the Nitrous Oxide System turned on. The second Run will follow immediately and will be with the
Nitrous System Turned on. Both figures will be recorded for the vehicles respective Class and the Killerwatt King Trophy.

Should you have any further questions please feel free to contact the toymods board on board@toymods.org.au

The Toymods Car Club Encourages Responsible driving to and from all of its events.

Nice... This is gonna be a blast if it is like last time. It is a good idea to get there early on the day too. Last time we dyno'd about 60 cars was it??? Anyhow, we can't dyno many more than that so if you don't want to miss out, be there on time.

I'm really pissed off, I'm gonna miss this one........ Mad I'm working 7till 3, so I'll cruise by if anyone's still there.
My advice to everyone, take a milk crate or something to sit on, some hearing protection, and if it's sunny (although being winter it shouldn't be too bad) take sunscreen or some sort of shade, cos there's none there.
I endered up in blisters last time..... Embarassed

And don't forget the cameras.

Troyboy,

It will only be the one run on the Dyno.

With the number of cars we had thru last time we only just managed to fit them all in on the day. Hopefully will we have a similar turnout this time round.

Even if you don't want to run your car come along down and have a look around. We will once again have the BBQ Going so grab a cheap lunch and meet some more of the memebers Smile

Even if your car isn't in the running for a trophy win its a very cheap look at how well it is or isn't running. One of the Vehicles Dyno'd last time round went just cause he was curious. (Hell thats why most of us go) Even tho it had been thru several mechanical workshops and was a recently finished full rebuild Steve (Premier Auto) pointed out an area of concern with its set up.

The car went back for work a week or two later and left with a power increase of over 25% at the wheels. !

Hope to see you all there !

Just out of interest Rod, whats the under 1800cc NA rear-wheel kw record for the dyno day? I'm not working that weekend so I think I'll come along for look if the weather is good. No rego on the Celica means no photo shoot with your car and the green machine but shit happens. I could get a trailer but I don't think the old 79 280ZX would tow a load that heavy! Too much dam effort just for photo shoot anyway, I'll just have to wait for another day.
I heard on the news the government may give the public event "wavier slips" more weight in court which could lower the cost of the public liability insurance for clubs like Toymods. Could this mean a return of the Toyota Nationals in Dubbo for 2003? I hope so, since I brought the dam car all the way from Tassie to NSW in 2001 just for the event which got shit canned at the last minute.

Dame Hard choice!! A supersprint@Eastern Creek or a Dyno Day? Both on the same day!! I would like to know what the top speed is with the new 6 slotter, but I would love to get it on the rollers.... I'll just have to flip a coin on this one.. or come over after a few hot laps.

Justin,

Under 1800cc N/A Class record is held by Tina's 2TG @ 62.3 Kw.
And beleive me theres not much between Her and the 4AGE's in the club.

Be good if you can come along. Its a great day. As for the Photo op my old Girl is still sad and sorry and up on stands without an engine Sad

BTW were you on the Supercruise ?? There was an old Black Datto there but I don't think I met its owner ? So many new faces its hard to keep up sometimes.

Thanks heaps for the offer man, but I really need to buy/own one, or at least spend a bit of time with one, and prolly get all the instructions too, as I've never tuned anything before (apart from fiddling with a D5 ARGH ). I figure I should learn now on something basic(ish), as I do plan to upgrade eventually, and I don't really want to have to fork out a couple hundred bucks every time I want the thing adjusted.

The way I figure it, with some better tuning my little 4A-GE should do much better. I recently checked the compression, and all cylinders were between 178 & 182psi. I also checked the valve clearances, and only about half the valves are half a beesdick over the max allowable clearance.

Once again, thanks for the offer, if you want to sell it, let me know. If I do get one, I'll probably quiz you a bit on the basics if that's cool.

What's your opinion on microtech? And how much time have you spent fine tuning?

As above, i have a handset.I will sell it but probably not until some time after the dyno day. It's the 4 line display too.

Microtech's you ask???

Just got my MTX upgraded to the Laptop programable software.
It rocks. More features for NOS etc and now 4 program locations so save your maps in instead of 2. 3D Mapping goes off.

Once you get it yourself(the handset) its awesome to get those extra few kilowatts. You just tweak your timing adjustments and there you go you have a couple of extra kilowatts.

Very simple and easy to use you just have to use a knock sensor.
Usually your fuel maps dont require adjustment unless you do some physical changes like exhuast or intake mods.

Just make sure you have a knock sensor and dont do it by ear. Comments like "crank it until it sounds like a can of rice shaking under the bonnet" wont get you far.

In winter you'd be surprised how many extra degrees she'll take.

BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER

now this is the sort of thing id like to come to - were havign a dyno day up here with the brizzie celica club - hopefully ill have some figures om my ta22 to offset against tinas

Teenz - ive been chatting in detail to your hubby about this - i dunno about the 4age sprinter girls - as they are so loveingly known - but id love to see what my 2TB can do up against your 2tgeu Smile

Single cam VS twin cam - carbs versus EFI

My motor had been tested prior to detuning to produce 185HP at the fly ( 9800rpm limit ) - which on paper worked out to be about to be about 111hp getting thru to the wheels ( using a formula i worked out from stock celica HP at fly vs hp at rears, about 60 % gets thru.)

In stock form - both our engines produced around 115hp - yours has been cammed and jetted - mines in the process of Re-camming - and has a dirty big weber carb thanks to your hubby bolted to the side ..

least by next month ill know how far i am off the mark of unofficuially snaring that record Wink

As long as a celica holds it - its all that matters -
GO CELICA ! Razz

Stuart

I'll be there, but I don't think I'll run the Celica. Should be an interesting day though.

Les, you may have traction problems if you have skinny tyres.

Wide rims and tyres always help.

Keep in mind though that smaller rims (in diameter, not width) will give you more power. So if you can, find some 14x7" rims rather than 17x7".....

Yeah. I'll be there.

Not sure if I'll be dynoing the car though. Depends on if they give you the A/F ratios. I need to see that so that I can figure out why my car is running like shit.

Not long now Smile

Max,

Spoke to Premier Auto Today and yes the Air Fuel meter will indeed be there and connected. Make $30 a very cheap look at how your engine is copeing under load. BTW you finished with those Go Kart wheels Wink

Matt,

I Vicki will be there for at least part of the day to accept new memberships. Just to remind everyone the Trophies are only available to Financial Club members.

Les,

Not sure how many cars to expect this time around January's turnout was great and hopefully this will be just as good. Last time we Dyno'd 60 Cars but there was easily more cars and people just down to watch than there was to compete. It really is a fantastic day so would be great to see you there. We will also be firing up the BBQ alot sooner than last time so BBQ lunch is a definate plan Smile

Eddie,

Mate you get to run your car in pretty much the order people pay so you will have a chance to warm ythe car up before you go so long as you are there and ready as soon as the guy in front of you comes off the rollers. Smile Its important for everyone to be ready as the quicker we get them on and off the more people can have a go before it gets to late.

Don't forget people we Kick off at 8am !! thats right AM (Kinda Early for a Sunday) the sooner you get there the sooner you get on the Dyno. Cars will be run pretty much in the order they arrive. There may be some slight shuffling at the Dyno opperators request but this is not expected.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Hi,

A friend just forwarded this link to me and i am writing to ask about the comp.

If i have a toyota and i am not a member does that mean i don't win a trophey? if so how do i become a member and is there any other rules within this competition.

Eg. Am i allow to have people sitting on my bonnet for traction? My car seams to spin alot on the dyno! Question
