HELP: Weird engine idle

i need help,
i recently found out my car idles funny,
when slam on the brake and come to a stop, the engine feels like its going to stall... the rev needle dip around 600 rpm and rev is very unstable....
i check the battery and the water level is fine and check the engine oil level and its ok as well...
pls help

without knowing what kind of car or engine you had, i'd venture a guess that your brake booster is sucking some of the vacuum away from your engine and making it idle lower, this is perfectly normal. if it's an old corolla or something, you usually set the idle at about 1000rpm and you don't notice it

is it an auto? Don't know much about autos but i've heard of cars stalling with autos in D put it in N and it's fine.

Well, neither the battery nor the oil level is going to affect this much anyway. If you put your foot on the brake with the car idling in the driveway, do you notice anything change about the engine? I'd probably suggest you get someone slightly cluey to actually take a look at it, it's one of those thigns you'd need to track down step by step.
