Was driving along in my car giving it a bit and when i changed into third it didnt go into third, but it went to the top right as far as you could push the gear leaver, then you could move it around everwere, it felt like a spoon in a blob of jelly, when i let the clutch out i found 3rd somehow and kept on going fine.
Is this a sign my gearbox is on its way out.

Check your shifter is still bolted down properly. I once had all the bolts but one fall out, and the shift quality deteriorated somewhat after that. If that's ok, pull the shifter out and check the condition of the bushes; if they're rooted, you'll get similar symptoms.
