That manifold looks very nice, who made it?
In response to the other's yes it would be nice to have a bunch of MR2's at the show, except they'll make mine look average.

took her for a drive the other day and f^*k me does it move.... but its not moving anymore though LOL dumped the clucth at 5g and bang.... u guessed it the CV housing smashed to pecies... just order billit steel ballbearing case and the the inner of the CV.... luck i have a spear to replace it with for the time being... should be back on the road soon...
also no real traction problems at all, which should see a mid to low 11 second pass. when the CV's have been sorted of course.

Very impressive.
I've got a few questions about your setup.
- What compression ratio are you running
- What cams are you running
- what boost are you running the GT35R at
- What revs does the GT35R start making usable (say 10lbs) boost at
- What revs are you getting maximum boost at
I'm thinking about going a bit overboard and building a strong bottom end plus some decent cams for my Gen3 but I don't know what Turbo I want. I'm thinking since the standard engine can make 200KW at the wheels fairly easily, if I'm going to build one I better make sure I have a turbo that can push 300KW at the wheels. I was hoping to get away with something a bit smaller than a GT35R, not just for response but also because there's SFA space in my engine bay to fit a huge turbo.

Dang, that sounds VERY impressive. I guess you'll be beating my 11.96 pretty soon then. With some time playing around with the tune, you should be able to add to that already massive 271rwkw. Before you run it, I recommend you get that axle kit that they sell in America (ATS Racing) for SW20's. These will allow you to use nice grippy tyres without breaking axles, resulting in bloody good 60 foot times and crazy low ET's.
BTW, did you see my car in the current issue 5 of AutoSalon magazine??

no but i will get my hands on it now that i know...
yeah thats already on order the one with the billit steel cages and the inner.... i have them on order LOL no wasting time here... Also there isnt that much timming in the motor yet, just wanna make sure she runs right before we put more timming in it. Also have you had any issues with the axels before?? i was told by CV specialist that its because the car is lowered, and therefoer when it bogs down there is too much pressure, thats why its snaping! it makes sense but... ???? just no more burnouts until i have the stringer inners.

Awesome output. Well done.
I'd say the shape of your power curve is going to be really hard on CV's and shafts, and with the MR2 always launching so well, it will compound the problem.
If those graphs are early tune, it'l be interesting to see what happens to power delivery later with extra timing etc.
How much does it squat when it launches?
Again - well done. It makes me want mine back!

Good thinking!! That ATS kit should prevent any future problems. Your launch technique will also damage your axles. Dumping the clutch is a no no in my books, I slip it. I'd rather burn out a clutch than have to mess around with axles ever again. So yes, I have snapped axles before. When using some Nitto drag tyres from a friends race import, I ran my 11.96, and eventually burnt out the clutch and broke my axles shortly after on another launch attempt (not at track). Even with my output, breaking axles was inevitable, so in your case, it's an issue of when not if (that is if you're using standard axles, inners etc).

its nice too see others shar my frustrations and problems. The only problem i have with sliping the clutch is that i have a brass button, on or off you can ride it to a degree but if your after the times and need the fast good launch slipping the clutch isnt a real option. I will just have to leave the street tyres on and make sure there is plenty of air, as traction dosnt seem to be an issue at the moment. (gotta love the mid mount)
cant wait too see the feature on your beast

MR2's can be the best and worst cars in the world at times. In the end, I think its worth it though. I love mine.
I have a brass button clutch too, and it did take a few attempts to get used to slipping it (not good for it though). Remember that time a long way back when you and I had a few quick little runs, that was pure brass button slipping action right there
BTW, for more grip, you'd wanna use less air (lower tyre pressure), not more. Let me know what you think of the magazine feature when you get the chance to read it.

yeah i know this... but the reason i said i want more tyre pressure is so that its spins to save the stress on the CV inners. Normal speaking i would run as little as 13psi in the tyres before for the traction. but now i have the worries of CV's.
I remember that night. I have to say that was well done for slippin tha brass... i must try more i think. LOL
also have you spoken to kyle latley, apparently my brother reckons he saw the car again, but with the clear tail lights (NOOOOOOOOO), do you know if he still owns the 2 ?

Smart thinking with the CV's then, hopefully you don't run into anymore problems with them.
I still speak to Kyle once in a while, and yes, he still does own the 2, and yes (or should I say no??) he does have clear tail lights. I think he always liked them, so when I told him they sell them at Penrith Toyota, he went bought em the next weekend. He hasn't done much to his car lately, except the tail lights and new shadow chrome rims.
