Ra28/RA40 Rear brake compatibility?

Ok, just a quick question. Have picked up a ra28 over the last week for a 1g-gte conversion that has been a long time coming!
The car is pretty rough so i have been giving it a once-over.
Did the rear brake cylinders today and noticed that there was' ra40' written on the drums. This had obviously been written on at a wreckers etc.
Question is whether the drums are compatible or if it is likely that the brakes have been changed over to what was on the later model? what do you guys think?
Thanks
Tom

I'm almost certain the rear brakes are identical for RA23/28/40. Easy enough to check though if you have a tape measure.

rear brakes (RA23/28/40) (and front i think) are identical.
if you're looking for improved braking then check out the tech articles on brake upgrades <http://www.toymods.org.au/tech.html>
if not but you want to freshen up the system, replace the rear slaves (they're cheap as), get the front calipers and the master cyl freshened up, get the disks and drums checked and replace if badly worn or warped.
while you are checking out hydraulics, check that the clutch master cyl hasn't leaked at the rear.

That was quick! Yeah, i assume they are the same brakes. The wheel cylinders i used had the code for an ra28 and they were identical to the ones i took off. Thanks mate.
