Hi guys & girls just found your web site and have read all your tips and answered most of my questions but have a few more?.
I have an RT 72 with an 18R-C I have read in your chats that an 18R-C can run on ULP and want to know if this is the case with all 18R-C or if if it's on the block? also I am putting a supercharger onto it what sort of boost can I run with out launching it out the bonnet? I am running a electric water pump and fan and have extractors fitted as well as having a 3000XR cran cams electronic ignition system and a 32-36 weber dose any one have any idear what sort of power I might have as it is undigested and cant get to a dyno just yet

thanks for all the help I may get
rick

Wow... youve done all that to an 18R-C?
Sounds like a bit of a waste for that engine.

Its the head that determines if the engine can run ULP. AFAIK the 18R-C can run ULP, the 18R cant.
If you want to be safe, just use some upper cyl lube like flashlube in your petrol. Only adds about 2c/l to the price of your petrol (1L is $16 which does 1000L of petrol).

As for the supercharger, you wont be able to run much boost with stock compression, maybe 4-8 psi. Running good fuel ULP98 will help with that though.
If your serious about the supercharger, you should look at using low-comp pistons or using a thick copper head gasket.

its a carby engine... hence any benfits from running cold air into it arent taken up, since it cant increase the air/fuel mix automatically like an EFI can.

This aint true.
Most carby cars run rich enuf that a cold-air intake will make a big difference.

I run a 18R and its a great engine... done 175tho but you would never know it by how well it runs.

Just that spending the amount that ricky must have on a $500 18-RC engine isnt worth it. Better to save the money spent on it and buy a 3SGTE or simmilar.

[edit]
Ooops... i meant 275tho, not 175.

There are about a bazillion sites out there that explain the common IRC-style acronyms in use on the internet. Do a Google search!

Dont waste your money stroking the 18RG. According Cary(in CA, US) he spent alot of money fitting a 20R crank into an 18RG he's not very happy with the out come. It's even S/C. Runs low 13's in 1/4 mile. Nice but not jaw droping like he thought it would be. Rolling Eyes
