1jz-gte parts help Sun, 15 August 2004 10:38 Go to next message
OK so i have an auto Soarer and I was told if I were to buy a new ECU eg. microtech I would have to select the gears myself (there is nothing telling the transmission to got back to first as the car comes to a stop and then takes off again). Is this true? and if so what other options do I have with upgrading the ecu, are there any decent piggy back options? or any other options with the transmission (short of converting it to manual).

Also I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of fuel system upgrades such as injectors, rail, pump. And finally.. Am i better off converting it over to a large single turbo setup, or upgrading they turbo system to a more powerful system but still keeping the twin setup..

sorry for the long assed post
if anyone can give me any help with any of this I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks

You can buy direct fit injectors from HKS and Sard (probably from other Japanese suppliers too).

what sort of power are you after?
stock fuel system will hold up to ~250rwkw (this is a point of much debate, but it will cope easily with 230rwkw)

You might be able to run a Auto computer out of a MA70 (7M Auto) as they run a seperate computer for the auto. Feed it the right inputs and it will control the auto for you.

How about Power FC? Would the auto still work then?

Power Fc isn't available for the auto Soarer.

You can run any number of piggybacks successfully, ems,E-manage, Perfect power IFT, etc.
Standalone management, Wolf, Motech etc,

Even Mines Ecu's pop up occasionally, or you can order your own from Perfect Run.

Just decide how deep you want to go, which is how much power. They are directly related to how much money you have to spend.

Fuel pump upgrades, intank the Supra 280LPH and Walbro 255LPH are good options.
Injectors from a JDM 2JZ-GTE 440c, will drop in. Us Supra ones (550cc) will require resistor packs, (some for sale now on supraforums.com.au).

Cheers
Andrew

If you want to get rid of the side feed injectors, Jamie from JT mechanical is making up 1jzgte fuel rails to take top feed injectors, the injectors he supplies are nearly 800cc and plug into the toyota loom.

Obviously they wouldnt work well on a stock computer if at all, however with aftermarket management this is the way to go !!

Give Jamie a call... 49569600.

JT Mechanical is in Newcastle, well worth the drive for sydney guys.

OK so it looks like a piggy back will be the way to go. I'm looking to get about 250 rw kw out of the car as it is sort of a daily driver and want to keep my license Laughing And with mid level turbo an fuel upgrades an totally new ecu doesn't seem too integral even though from a tuning point of view it would be a better option.

Thanks a lot for you help and suggestions any more would be welcome.

Why not just buy Direct fit SARD side feed low impedance injectors, available off the shelf, direct replacement for 1JZ and 2JZ and plug into toyota loom ?? I sell them all the time to supra and soarer owners.

$750 a set, no custom fuel rail needed, no modification needed.....

Any Auto 1JZ can use the an APEXi Power FC if they buy the extra solenoid needed so the Auto still operates. (available from a place in S.A.) Turns it into a manual shift auto though.

You would need some sort of fuel computer like SAFC or full programmable to run low impedance injectors unless you fit 7m resistor packs. sound right?

actually not sure if the SAFC can handle low impedance injectors, anyone know?
