Peter,
Selling a car that you've just finished is just plain stupid. Not only the money you lose from it but also the fact that you haven't even enjoyed the car yet.
I wast almost pushed int thinking the same way you are now so i went and got the turbo hi-flowed. Then they tried the same with me again, so i got the exhaust done in defiance. Every time i drive the car now i get a woody. And im so much happier not selling it.
Bring the ones who put these silly ideas in your head about selling.
I will slap them! Many times if necessary to get the message through that they speak only nonsense.

Keep the bloody thing, as you will never be satisfied with something else...(Not for that sort of money, anyway!)
Besides, if you flog it, who will I have to embarrass when I eventually finish my 1UZ conversion?
(BTW, I definitely WONT be selling mine!)

Yours is running a stock 1JZ out of a half-cut, right? Around 208KW? I'm hoping for around 220-230KW from mine given the 2/1/2" system and Autronic engine management...so I doubt you'll be ripping me a new exhaust anytime soon! Having said that, if you do the exhaust etc then, yes, I'll probably be beaten. (But never embarassed! )
Naturally, it will help when (if?) I ever finish the wiring etc...

@ the last dyno day a healthy 1uz made about 120 rwkw, My mostly stock 1j made 187 rwkw with a massive hole in the intake plumbing.
I doubt an aftermarket computer and any sort of exhaust will net 70 rwkw to put the 1u anywhere near a 1j !!

TOYO3T... what sort of mods did your 1J have to pull 187rwkw?
My dead stock 1JZ made 140kW a couple of dyno days ago. Just wondering how you were able to get 47rwkw more ?
And mx83toy... is your S-AFC installed at the moment ?
If not, I'd like to put in a request to buy it.

I have a large twin pipe exhaust system, electronic boost controller running 1 Bar, HKS f con V computer ( which I am sure is a handicap, as it is tuned really crap! ) and a custom cold air box.
187 was a low figure, it has made 198 rwkw at SAS, and that was on a dud fuel pump and old ( no twins ) exhaust.
I was expecting about 210 or so.
The bitch rattled its head off due to the hole in the intake plumbing sending temps through the roof.
Even though absolute dyno figures will vary, my earlier 1u vs 1j comparo was on the same dyno an the same day, we were 70 rwkw apart !!!
Biased, I hope your 133 rwkw wasnt on the same dyno that Martin Donnon is claiming 258 rwkw from stock turbo's !!
You guys gotta get a better exhaust sytem, Soarer, you will makeup that power if you replace your exhaust with at least 3 inch equivalent and run 1 bar.
Get a set of twin pipes made and you can run 16 psi for years without fail, it has been done a number of times before.

Obviously your car is anything but stock...(Not even remotely, I'd guess.)
Given that a stock 1JZ puts out around 208KW at the crank, then to get the figures you're claiming, you'd need to boost it AND run a very good exhaust system. (At the least).
The dyno figures I provided were taken on the same dyno on the same day. These are, I suspect, somewhat closer to real-world figures.
As for mine, If I can get close to 150RWKW, I'll be more than happy. Given that the car weighs around 1300kgs, I imagine that it will be "quick enough". (With the added bonus of 1UZ strength and reliability).

I am confident that the dyno was accurate if not low reading.
Most cars there on the day reported significant losses compared to other sydney dynos they had been on recently, some only the day before!!
Paul (SupraGTE) lost 15rwkw there overnight. Some others (all are my friends so I wont bother quoting thier losses for fear being biased/exagerated) lost a lot more.
I'm happy to say that the dyno was fair and accurate.
Most cars made just slightly less than what the owner expected.
Some cars there were hardly dyno virgins.
BTW my 187 figure was done on the old exhaust system too, which was far from stock but not flash either, 1 week after the dyno run I discovered i had a collapsed muffler which was completely blocked, I dont know when exactly it happened, may even have been like that at the dyno day. I doubt it though it made too much power.
My new exhaust system owes me only about $600 ( I had my own cats). It is far from extravagant. Beside that my mods equate to 1 bar boost and bugger all else.
I get matched for rwhp by stock computer 1j's every day, and I use a stack more fuel than they do, The fcon V was tuned on a dead fuel pump (without my consent by BD4'$, but thats another story), most fueling values are pure guesswork trying to cover all possibilities with my schitzo pump, and they verge on the fat side everywhere, especially with a new pump installed.
Best way to tell, Biased have you ever run on a g-tech or another timing equipement. What are your 1/4 mile terminal speeds ( I know these are different to a real track), my car kerb weight (with me + 1/2 a tank of fuel) is about 1690kg.
it does consistent 5.3 sec 0-100's and 13.6 400M's @176 kmh.
terminal speed is the best judge of power.

Given that I'm still putting the thing together, I can't say for sure. Once it's finished, I hope to take it down the 1/4 (or 1/8th, if I do Wakefield) I'll have a better idea then...
